Following their dramatic 4-3 victory over Real Madrid and their subsequent qualification for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League semi-finals, Bayern Munich have reached top spot in UEFA's 10-year club ranking system.

With 280,500 points, Bayern jumped above Real (271,500) as the current leaders, followed by Manchester City (250,500), Paris Saint-Germain (239,500) and Barcelona (235,250).

The 10-year UEFA ranking is based on coefficient points collected throughout a campaign. They can be amassed through participation in a UEFA competition (Champions League, Europa League and Conference League), with additional points awarded for each knockout round that is reached, all the way up to the final.

The 10-year cycle means values from the 2021/22 season onwards count towards the final tally. While Bayern haven't won a European title during this timespan, their record of reaching at least the quarter-finals in the last five editions of the Champions League has propelled them into first position.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern, said in a statement: "This ranking is no historical fluke, but is further proof of the strength of this club. Bayern stands for sustainable sporting performance and, with its clear identity and general direction, for stability in a time of extremes, in which international football is dominated by investors in many places.

"We will consistently continue on this path of autonomy and independence."

Bayern now have the opportunity to extend their advantage in the UEFA rankings, as the highest-ranked club still left in this season's Champions League. They face holders PSG over two legs on 28 April and 6 May for the right to play either Atlético Madrid or Arsenal in the final in Budapest on 30 May.
