Augsburg sign Manchester City youngster Juma Bah on loan
Augsburg have signed Manchester City centre-back Juma Bah on loan for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, bringing the highly rated Sierra Leone international to the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old previously spent last season at Ligue 1 club Nice on a temporary basis, playing 41 times for the club in all competitions.
Bah originally joined Manchester City from Real Valladolid in January 2025, although he would spend the rest of that season on loan at Lens. From there, he joined Nice on loan for the 2025/26 campaign, where he quickly established himself as one of Europe's most promising young centre-backs.
Alongside his senior club experience, Bah has seven international caps to name, and one goal. He will wear the No. 35 shirt at his new club and could now help Augsburg fill the defensive void left by Keven Schlotterbeck, who joined Southampton last week in a permanent transfer.
Augsburg's spoirting director Benjamin Weber said upon the announcement, "After Keven Schlotterbeck’s departure, it was important for us to specifically strengthen our central defense. With Juma, we have signed a talented player whose size, physique, and abilities make him a great fit for us. Even at a young age, he brings a wealth of playing experience and valuable insights at the highest European level. We are convinced that he will take the next step at Augsburg and are delighted to have him with us."
Bah added, "I’m very happy to be in Augsburg, a club where young players can develop very well. There are many recent examples of this. That’s why this move is the next right step for me."
The towering defender's first chance to impress for his new club may come on Matchday 2, when Augsburg travel to Eintracht Frankfurt's Deutsche Bank Park.
