The 2025/26 Bundesliga title race: Bayern Munich lead the way ahead of Borussia Dortmund
Bayern Munich have a 12-point lead in the 2025/26 Bundesliga title race, so when will they get their chance to secure the Meisterschale?
Bayern are firmly on course to claim a second consecutive Meisterschale, but the title race isn't over just yet with five games to go...
Club: Bayern Munich
Position: 1st
Points: 76

Bayern's win in Der Klassiker on Matchday 24 gave them a big 11-point advantage over their rivals in second place. While the lead was reduced to nine after their chaotic draw with Bayer Leverkusen, three straight wins over Union Berlin, Freiburg and most recently at St. Pauli have opened that gap to 12 points again.
It means the earliest Vincent Kompany's men can secure the title is Matchday 30, when they host VfB Stuttgart.
They must better Dortmund's result at Hoffenheim on Saturday to do so, otherwise the champagne will be on ice for another week until they can be mathematically confirmed as champions.
Final 5 games:
- VfB Stuttgart (h)
- Mainz (a)
- Heidenheim (h)
- Wolfsburg (a)
- Cologne (h)
Club: Borussia Dortmund
Position: 2nd
Points: 64
Goal difference: +31
Form
The odds are against Dortmund, given no team has ever overturned such a large deficit to the summit this late, but they'll want to be in a position to take advantage should Bayern - still also competing in the DFB Cup and UEFA Champions League - slip up at all in the run-in.
BVB have only lost three times in the league in 2025/26 - including home and away to the defending champions - but seven draws, including a number from winning positions, have affected their points' tally.
Final 5 games:
- Hoffenheim (a)
- Freiburg (h)
- Borussia Mönchengladbach (a)
- Eintracht Frankfurt (h)
- Werder Bremen (a)
