Neuer to equal appearance record?

If he were to appear tonight against Dortmund, Neuer would join Thomas Müller at the top of the Supercup appearances leaderboard. He currently sits on 11, with former teammate Müller still ahead with 12.

Signal Iduna Park awaits

Who will claim this season's first piece of silverware, and earn bragging rights over their Klassiker rival?

Kobel on Karetsas and Dortmund's up and coming stars

"With Costa, our new Greek talent, you don’t need a lot of time to see that he has a lot of quality on the ball, that he’s a great player and that he has a lot of potential. We have a lot of young guys with a lot of potential, and I’m really excited about what they can bring to the team and about their everyday work. They’re going to improve how the game is played here."

Neuer on facing old rivals Dortmund

"You have to say that Dortmund is always the toughest challenge for us. I just think it's an amazing game when we play in Dortmund. We're all looking forward to it. The Supercup was already important last year when we played in Stuttgart, and now we get to play in Dortmund. They're really a good team and we know we have to be on point there. We have to give everything. We are motivated and looking forward to it."

Kobel on facing Manuel Neuer

"After so many years, the level he’s performing at is very impressive. You always want to compete against the best, so I’m always very excited when I can play against him.”

Gregor Kobel on coming up against Bayern Munich

"It’s a cup, and it’s an important game. I think everybody sees it the same way. Every time you play against Bayern Munich, it’s going to be a great game for us, and we know we have to give 110 per cent. Everybody is looking forward to the game."

Felix Nmecha on the Supercup Klassiker

"It's a big game. It's a game for a trophy, and it's a game that everyone wants to win. So I think we just need to give everything, and hopefully we can do that."

New Man of the Match award

Today's Franz Beckenbauer Supercup will see the new Man of the Match award presented in partnership with adidas for the first time, including an official trophy for each game as of this season. As was the case last year, voting by fans starts from the 86th minute of each match exclusively in the Bundesliga app.

Will Saibari start?

With no Musiala, Karl or Gnabry, there's a vacancy in Bayern's attack, which may mean Ismael Saibari makes his competitive Bayern debut from the start. "He has so much power and pace, and can finish. He'll play a role tomorrow," Kompany stated, before adding, "He's coming off an injury, so we'll see how things go in terms of minutes. He'll play an important role for us."

No Musiala

Vincent Kompany confirmed on Friday that Jamal Musiala won't be involved in Dortmund following his recent health issues as he "adapts to the treatment". Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl are the only other senior absentees.
0:58

Vincent Kompany on the Supercup

"It'd be great if we could win a title in Dortmund. There's nothing better than winning a title away in Dortmund, but it's difficult. The quality and power in Dortmund's team is high. There's no tougher task in the Bundesliga. I don't distinguish the importance of a title. At the end of the day, you want to win everything. Tomorrow is a final."

Newcomers straight into action?

Dortmund's two newest recruits - Giannis Konstantelias and Joey Veerman - only arrived this week, but Kovač sees no issue throwing them in the Supercup deep end. "I know they're both physically fit and have minutes under the belts. I don't see any need not to include them in the squad," the BVB coach explained of their potential inclusion. Konstantinos Karetsas (pictured) is another who could make his competitive debut in black and yellow after featuring in the friendlies against Arsenal and Roma.

Trio set to return

Kovač confirmed on Thursday that "the squad is pretty full" and that "we'll need to cut a few" for the Supercup. Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Beier and Carney Chukwuemeka (pictured r.) missed the Roma friendly but have all now trained and have a chance of featuring against Bayern. Club captain Emre Can and deputy Nico Schlotterbeck are the two long-term absentees.
1:41

Niko Kovač on the Supercup

"We're starting the season. Nobody really knows where they stand, so this game will be a pointer. We want to win it. We're playing at home. The first title [of the season] is on the line, and we'd like it to remain here in Dortmund."
