World Cup agony for Eriksen

In stark contrast to Leverkusen's Schick, Wolfsburg midfielder Christian Eriksen just missed out on qualification for this summer's FIFA World Cup. The 34-year-old came on in the second-half of Denmark's play-off final against Czechia on Tuesday, who went on to win via a penalty shootout.

It was an eventful international break for several Leverkusen stars, and most notably of all, Patrick Schick. The forward helped Czechia qualify for their first FIFA World Cup finals since 2006 after scoring against the Republic of Ireland in their play-off semi-final last week.

Bayer have history on their side
