Full-time: Bayern 3-0 Mainz

Very comfortable in the end for Bayern, but Leverkusen's win over Augsburg means the title race rolls on into Matchday 32. Kompany's charges stay eight points clear at the summit and will be crowned champions if they avoid defeat in Leipzig next weekend. As for top-six candidates Mainz, it's now six games without a win.

Reactions The Boy Wonder would be proud of

Quick thinking from Robin Zentner and a well-timed sliding challenge denies Coman the chance to add the gloss. The Bayern sub was all alone as the ball came over from the right.
80'

Sané rocket...

... but Zentner is equal to it, diving to his left to beat the Bayern goalscorer's rasping drive to safety.
78'

Danger!

Olise goes on the outside of Hanche-Olsen, before sending in a fierce low cross that's hooked clear inside the six-yard box.
75'

Attacking change

Young forward Nelson Weiper is on for left-back Mwene for the final 15 minutes or so. After that brief spell of pressure, Mainz are on the back foot again and desperately need a spark.

Coman on

More pace in the wide areas for Mainz to contend with as Kingsley Coman replaces Gnabry.

Overturned

Sané goes to ground under Da Costa's challenge just outside the Mainz box. It's initially given as a foul and a booking, before a VAR review shows Sané was offside.

Denied by the post!

Under pressure on halfway, Olise does brilliantly to toe a through-ball into the run of Sané. He sends a delicate chip over the advancing Zentner, but the ball comes back off the upright before being scrambled to safety.
60'

Not far away

Bayern go up the other end with Sané, who bends a rising strike wide of the far post. Zentner probably had it covered.
57'

Reaction save!

Urbig has to adjust his body to stop Da Costa's fierce strike going in off Stanišić. This is a good spell for Mainz - can they capitalise?
56'

Decent hit!

Amiri receives the ball in a pocket of space around 20 yards from the Bayern goal. He tries to curl one into the top corner, but Urbig dives to his right to beat it away.
53'

Mr Bayern

The sight of Müller warming up is met with a loud round of applause. It looks like he'll be coming on to make his 500th Bundesliga appearance before long, in what will be his penultimate game at the Allianz as a Bayern player.

Half-time: Bayern 2-0 Mainz

Laimer's allowed all the time and space in the world to run at the Mainz defence and slip a pass to his right for Olise. Caci concern

After going to ground, Sané accidentally rolls into Caci, putting weight on the Frenchman's standing foot. It's pretty innocuous, but the Mainz physios are on.

Leverkusen goal!

Patrik Schick has put the defending champions 1-0 up against Augsburg. As things stand, Bayern will have to wait to get their hands on the title...
13'

Close!

Sané's at it again, the Bayern No.10 driving into the penalty area and squaring to Kane. The ball bounces off a Mainz defender and into the path of Stanišić, who slaps his shot wide of the near post.
10'

Zentner at full stretch

Sané's in full flight as he runs at the back-tracking Mainz defence. He jinks left and right before unleashing a vicious 20-yard strike that Zentner does really well to push over his crossbar. The ensuing corner comes to nothing.
6'

Huge chance!

Burkardt shows a great first touch to control a long ball over the top of the Bayern defence. He turns inside of Kim in the box, before ballooning over on his left foot. That had everything but the finish...

Gnabry on the charge now. He tries to dribble his way into the Mainz box, but the white shirts manage to snuff out the danger.

Teams out

The players walk out onto the hallowed turf, followed by head coaches Kompany and Henriksen. Jonathan Burkardt elects to take the ball for kick-off - the 05ers will be kicking from left to right in the first half.

Deafening noise

It's operatic from the Bayern fans, scarves aloft, as the players wait in the tunnel. The stage is well and truly set...

Continental goals

Despite a run of five without victory, Mainz are still right in the mix for Europe. They start the day in sixth, only two points adrift of the UEFA Champions League places, but with a clutch of sides breathing down their necks.

Cloudy skies

It's a little overcast in Munich today, with temperatures around the 14C mark but likely to rise significantly inside the Allianz Arena if Bayern do manage to sew up the title. As ever, a full house is expected.

More on those teams

Two Bayern changes to the win in Heidenheim, with Josip Stanišić replacing Raphaël Guerreiro at left-back and Leroy Sané back in for Kingsley Coman in attack. Thomas Müller, who is set to make his 500th Bundesliga appearance, is among the substitutes, but Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Hiroki Ito and Alphonso Davies remain on the sidelines. As for Mainz, wing-back Phillipp Mwene and midfielder Paul Nebel return to side after missing the 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg. Andreas Hanche-Olsen replaces the injured Moritz Jenz in the back three.

Previous party poopers

Mainz have history when it comes to thwarting title celebrations, but in a way that Bayern are very fond of remembering. Their 2-2 draw at Dortmund on the final day of the 2022/23 season famously allowed Bayern to snatch the Bundesliga title on goal difference thanks to a late strike from Jamal Musiala in a 2-1 win in Cologne.

Contrasting form

Bayern are unbeaten in their past five Bundesliga matches heading into the encounter, while Mainz are without a win in five.

Vincent Kompany on Mainz

"The players need to know what's needed to be tactically and mentally ready for every game. We lost the reverse fixture in Mainz. Knowing the team as I do, the motivation is very high. We need to look to our qualities. Mainz have earned their results, have a clear idea, are consistent in everything they do. When they press, they press together. When they defend, they defend together. They've also had belief this season. They're always a threat."

Bo Henriksen on Bayern

"To beat Bayern, we just have to do exactly what we did in the reverse fixture. We need to make it difficult for them and play an intelligent game. As long as we believe we can win there, anything's possible."
