GRITTY UNION UPSET LEIPZIG
That's it ! Union join Gladbach and Mainz at the top of the Bundesliga standings on seven points following their second win of the season. First half goals from Siebatcheu and Becker help Urs Fischer's men to a big scalp and the home fans roar their appreciation. Leipzig remain winless after three games.
There will be four minutes of added time in Berlin. Nail-biting stuff here.
More Leipzig corners at the death after Simakan's smash at goal is defected wide. Union eventually clear .
Speed check: The fastest player in the game after 90 minutes
Union have their first corner of the game ! Leite connects with the set piece but it goes off target.
LEIPZIG BACK IN IT
Well now. Game on? Willi Orban's header from Leipzig's 11th corner is flapped into the net by Rönnow. The 'keeper might be disappointed with himself but Orban's header had just enough power to make it tricky to deal with from close range.
NO PROBLEM IRONS
What looks a dangerous move ends with Werner's cross being chested into the Union keeper's arms by Ryerson. Cue huge cheers. Union go straight up the other end but can't take full advantage of the counter attack.
RYERSON INTO ORBIT
Haraguchi tees up Ryerson who almost sends the ball into the forest outside of the stadium. The Union fans don't care, their singing and bouncing has barely stopped all half.

UNION'S TRIPLE SWAP
Urs Fischer makes a triple change as he looks to see this game out with 15' to play.
Incredibly, Leizpig have had nine corners in this match. Union have had none. No team has had more corners than the visitors in a game so far this season.
SILVA SEEKING GLORY
Leipzig coach Tedesco pats Andre Silva on the back and sends him into the game hoping against hope the Portuguese forward can pull the visitors back into this.
RYERSON TO UNION'S RESCUE
How has that stayed out!? A Leipzig corner eventually falls for Halstenberg who swipes a shot goalwards. The slippery ball grazes Rönnow's glove and looks to be heading in, until Ryerson hacks clear right on the line.
Behrens goes in too late on Simakan and that's a yellow for the Union player.
Changes on both sides. A huge round of applause for the departing Siebatcheu who, along with scoring the game's opening goal, has put in a big shift here.
Becker's cross from the left is met by Siebatcheu whose shot flashes past the near post and wide.
WINDOW SHUT TO WERNER
Werner gets into a decent position in front of the box but is then ushered all the way over to the sideline by Julian Ryerson. This already has the look of a very frustrating day for the visitors who are finding Union in resolute mood.
YELLOW FOR RONNOW
The referee says Union goalkeeper Ronnow is raking too much time over his goal kicks and the Union shot stopper is booked.
RBL IMPROVEMENT NEEDED
Leipzig have won a series of corners at the start of this second period but have failed to make them count as Union soak up the pressure.
Leipzig coach Domenico Tedesco has opted for a switch in personnel at the start of the second half, with Marcel Halstenberg coming on for Josko Gvardiol, who may have been carrying a slight knock in the first 45.
GAME BACK ON !
Union get us back underway in the second half.
Union go in at at half time in control of this match, with a couple of fine counter-attacking moves helping the hosts to a 2-0 lead. Leipzig with lots of work to do after the restart.
UNION WANT MORE
Ooooh Union go close again. Becker from the right drags a shot across the face and Leipzig escape.
SIEBATCHEU ON TWO
UNION'S COUNTER-ATTACK MASTERCLASS
For all of Leipzig's possession, it is Union who lead where it counts: on the scoreboard. Urs Fischer's men have executed two astounding counter-attacks here and they'll take some stopping now with this vociferous crowd behind them.
UNION AGAIN !
The Union fans are in dreamland here ! Sheraldo Becker waltzes through on the right, rolls the ball onto his left foot and blooters an unstoppable shot past the bewildered Blaswich. Union are on absolute fire

SIEBATCHEU ON A ROLL
That's two home games for Jordan Siebatcheu, and two goals. The striker also scored at the Alte Försterei in Union's first match of the season, a 3-1 win against Hertha Berlin.
UNION IN FRONT
The perfect breakaway goal for Union! Becker races through on the right and picks out Siebatcheu in space. A wonderfully rolled finish from the Union man into the corner leaves Blaswich on his backside. Top goal.
Andras Schäfer bursts away on the right but Kevin Kampl has the midfielder's digits and lunges in, upending his opponent. A yellow for the Leipzig man.
Speed check: The fastest player in the game after 30 minutes
A set piece for the visitors. Olmo thwacks one into the mixer and big Willi Orban gets his head on it. There's also a Union touch and Leipzig have another corner, which comes to nothing.
Union's No. 8 goes in a little too hard on Olmo and the ref wants a word.
RBL HIT THE POST
Henrichs feeds Werner who takes the calmest of touches to lift the ball over the advancing Union goalkeeper. The forward's effort hits the post and the hosts breathe a sigh of relief.
SIMAKAN OFF THE LINE
Union are suddenly away and after a frantic build-up, Ryerson wellies a shot that leaves Blaswich rooted. Simakan is behind the 'keeper and thumps clear. That was going in.
Werner goes on one of his lung-busting sprints forward and crashes into Union captain Christopher Trimmel inside the area. Nothing doing, says the ref. Werner will need attention here after falling awkwardly ...
Again Leipzig push forward, this time winning a corner. Olmo's delivery is poor and the Union fans once again start jumping and chanting.
LEIPZIG ATTACKING TACTIC
A sign of things to come? Dani Olmo threads the needle with a pass along the floor which Timo Werner fancies the look of. The returning Leipzig striker is foiled by the alert Rönnow in the Union goal.
GAME ON !
Leipzig get the ball rolling and we are underway in the German capital.
ALL SET ....
Teams are out. A light drizzle is falling. Perfect conditions for a Saturday evening game. Let's go !
IT'S ALMOST TIME
As ever, there's a cracking atmospehere at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei as we await the arrivals of both teams onto the pitch ...

Where will Werner fit in?
Still seeking the right blend
Leipzig are still without a win in all competitions so far this season following their Supercup loss to Bayern Munich and opening-day draw with VfB Stuttgart. There's been an experimental feel to Domenico Tedesco's team selection of late, with young Hugo Novoa starting back-to-back games at right wing-back and Benjamin Henrichs dropping into a central role in the absence of Konrad Laimer.
Timo's emphatic return
And so may it continue...
Judging by their start to the new campaign, more of the same can be expected in the year ahead. Union are one of six unbeaten teams after the opening two rounds of fixtures, thanks to their 3-1 win over city rivals Hertha and last weekend's goalless draw with Mainz.
Union have come a long way
Union were given a rude introduction to life in the Bundesliga by Werner and Leipzig back in August 2019. Die Eisernen went down 4-0 in front of their own fans, but that debut loss has proved the exception rather than the rule. Urs Fischer's steely ensemble have become a top-flight force to be reckoned with, following up their 11th-placed finish in 2019/20 by qualifying for Europe in each of the past two seasons
