MAINZ WIN!

Lewandowski gets his 36th Bundesliga goal of the season following Hack's misplaced backwards header, but it's too little, too late for Bayern. Mainz celebrate a famous win - they move five points clear of the relegation play-off spot; Bayern are made to wait for the title. The holders still need three points from three games to seal the deal, unless Leipzig slip up against Stuttgart on Sunday.

NO WAY THROUGH

Müller's in amongst it as a ball is floated in towards the penalty spot, but Zenter's there again with a brave intervention.
84'

LEWY DENIED

Boateng goes long for Lewandowski, but he can't bring the bouncing ball under wraps and Zentner is able to close down the space. Lewy's not played since the end of March - that lack of match practice has been evident today.
75'

CHOUPO-MOTING EFFORT

Two chances for the Bayern sub now - both straight at Zentner. Kimmich provided the cross on this occasion - the first time he'd manage to get in behind Mainz's well-drilled lines.
71'

ALL-OUT ATTACK

Alaba, who was on a yellow, is replaced by Gnabry. Looks like Bayern are going 4-1-4-1 from here...

ROUTINE SAVE

Choupo-Moting gets a shot away, but it's simple enough for Zentner, who's barely been tested.

A BAYERN BLANK?

Only Leipzig had stopped Bayern from scoring in 82 competitive matches under Flick before today. That was back in February 2020...
55'

BARREIRO DOWN

Leandro Barreiro is receiving attention on the pitch for a head injury. It's nothing serious - but butterfly stitches are needed. He's been a big player for Mainz since Svensson came in, none more so than today.
52'

RED WALL

Musiala pulls away and crosses for Lewandowski, who he's surrounded by three red shirts, with his attempted shot deflected behind. Mainz have been superb at the back today.
48'

TALKING TACTICS

It looks like Nianzou has dropped into the centre of the Bayern defence, with Alaba moving into midfield. Musiala has gone out wide right, with EMCM on the opposite side.
46'

ALL CHANGE

Flick makes three changes at the break, with Musiala, Choupo-Moting and Nianzou on. Coman, Sane and Goretzka make way. Öztunali's on for Mainz, replacing the excellent Burkardt, who took a heavy knock to the head in the first half, suffering a bloody nose as a result

DON'T GET TOO CARRIED AWAY...

Mainz led Bayern 2-0 at half-time in Munich earlier this season, only to lose 5-2. Just saying...

HALF-TIME: MAINZ 2-0 BAYERN

Who saw this coming? Mainz are deserved leaders at the break - were if not for Neuer and the woodwork they'd be three or even four goals to the good. The 05ers haven't put a foot wrong, but Bayern can only improve...

HALF CHANCE

Goretzka takes one on from 18 yards, but a deflection takes it wide. Kimmich's corner comes to nothing. It's just not been Bayern's day so far in Mainz...

ACCESS DENIED

Bayern work the ball well in the final third. Sane picks it up on the right flank and goes on the outside of his man. He cuts a ball back into the six-yard box, but it's cleared. Mainz must have had at least eight men in the area!
43'

HANDBAGS!

Quaison goes to ground under Goretzka's challenge in midfield. The Mainz players want to see another booking, but it's Alaba who's eventually cautioned for his reaction. Bayern are rattled.
39'

SANE WIDE

Sane teases his marker, before whipping an effort wide from 20 yards. Zentner wasn't worried - but that was better in possession from Bayern.
38'

MAINZ DOUBLE THEIR LEAD!

Shock alert as Mainz double their advantage. Boateng's punished for a clumsy challenge out on the Mainz left. Mwene whips over a peach of a free-kick and finds the head of Quaison, who makes no mistake with his six-yard header. Mainz 2-0 Bayern!

BURKARDT OK

Burkardt's back on the field for Mainz. Always a relief after a blow to the head.
31'

BURKARDT DOWN

Burkardt stays down after a nasty clash of heads with Kimmich. The Mainz forward's only recently come back from a head injury; the physios are straight on - but he is sitting up...

MÜLLER HALF CHANCE

Boateng chips a long pass into the Mainz box. It's right on the toe of Müller, but he hooks his first-time volley wide. Difficult one for the Space Invader.

24'

CLASSIC SANE

Leroy Sane, who has seen very little of the ball, drifts in off the right as he so loves to do. The Bayern No.10 drills an effort goalwards, but it doesn't have Burkardt's swerve and is straight at Zentner.
23'

TEASER

Nervy moments for Mainz as Coman clips a cross into the box. It travels across the six-yard area, before Quaison hooks clear.
22'

NEUER TO THE RESCUE

Burkardt holds off his marker and sends Quaison in on goal. It's got a bit too much on it for the rampaging Quaison, though, and Neuer is out in a flash to smother. Flick is seething in the away dugout.
19'

WOODWORK!

Mainz go agonisingly close once again as Danny da Costa's shot takes a wicked deflection and rattles Neuer's left-hand post. Mainz are all over the Bundesliga leaders here...
17'

NEUER AGAIN!

Neuer doing Neuer things with a huge right hand to thwart Quaison. Mainz could be 3-0 up!
16'

OVER FROM LEWY!

Big, big chance for Bayern, all of Mainz's making. Lewandowski controls a loose clearance, and only has Zentner to beat. He does just that, but also clears the crossbar by a good few yards. Put that down to ring rust - he doesn't miss those ordinarily.
11'

OFF THE POST!

Neuer atones for that earlier mistake with a fine reaction save to push Danny Latza's deflected header onto the woodwork. Mainz have made a superb start.
4'

MAINZ LEAD!

Hel-lo! Alaba doesn't get enough behind his attempted clearance, with the ball worked into the feet of Jonathan Burkardt around 18 yards from goal. He gets right behind his effort, which swerves viciously away from Neuer, nestling into the net off the Bayern skipper's right wrist. No clean sheet record for Manu today - Kahn's best-mark will have to wait.
2'

PAVARD!!!

Wowser! Mainz only half clear with Müller and Lewandowski lurking. Kimmich lays the ball off on the edge of the box for Pavard, who leathers an effort narrowly wide of Zentner's left-hand post.
Kick-off!

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING - FLICK

"The squad have showed their quality and character in recent weeks. We want to seal the title on Saturday, but we know Mainz are in great form. They're unbeaten in six games. Lewy has been out for four weeks, but he's shown in training that he's in good shape. We will obviously support him, however our main focus is the title."

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING - SVENSSON

"Bayern are a top team and we have to try everything on the field. Of course you don't have a guaranteed result against these opponents, but you still have to perform well! Our approach to the game isn’t to prevent Bayern winning the league. But of course we still want to make the most of our chances!"

LET'S TALK ABOUT MAINZ

Mainz have their own mastermind at the helm in Bo Svennson. The 05ers have picked up 25 points from a possible 45 under the Dane, compared to six from 14 before his arrival. They're unbeaten in six - winning their last two against lowly Cologne and Werder Bremen - and begin the weekend with a two-point cushion on the relegation play-off spot in 13th place. They arguably have the most difficult run-in of all teams around them, though, with Eintracht Frankfurt (a), Borussia Dortmund (h) and Wolfsburg (a) following their game in hand against second-bottom Hertha Berlin.

WATCH: HANSI FLICK'S FINAL CHAPTER?

Hansi Flick has been a revelation in the Bayern dugout since taking over from Niko Kovac on 3 November 2019 - but could this be his final hurrah?

ONE WIN FROM GLORY

With a 10-point lead over second-placed RB Leipzig, and only four games to go, Bayern will be crowned Bundesliga champions for the ninth successive season with a win today. It'd give Hansi Flick his seventh trophy as coach - as many pieces of silverware as defeats in over 80 games in charge.

MAINZ CHANGES

Bo Svensson makes a handful of chances to the side that won 1-0 at Bremen in midweek. Alexander Hack starts in defence at the expense of Stefan Bell, Danny da Costa replaces Daniel Brosinski on the right-hand side, Danny Latza is preferred to Dominik Kohr in midfield, while Jean-Paul Boetius and Adam Szalai make way for Robin Quaison and Jonathan Burkardt in attack. 'Pace' is the word.

LEWY'S BACK!

Robert Lewandowski goes straight into the Bayern starting line-up after missing five matches with a knee ligament injury. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting makes way for the Pole, who has four matches to find the six strikes he needs to break Gerd Müller's 40-goal single-season record of 1971/72. Leon Goretzka also returns to the starting line-up, with Lucas Hernandez dropping out to allow David Alaba to revert to centre-back. Leroy Sane is rotated back in at the expense of teenager Jamal Musiala.
