Paderborn took advantage of Schalke slipping up to go top of the table after deservedly winning an intense duel thanks to goals from Laurin Curda and Filip Bilbija. The visitors rallied, but Omar Sillah's first professional goal came too late to get them back into the match.

Karlsruhe 2-1 Schalke
Goals: 0-1 Karaman 66’ pen, 1-1 Beifus 76’, 2-1 Schleusener 90+3’

Karlsruhe put an end to Schalke’s superb recent form with a 93rd-minute winner after Kenan Karaman had initially given the Royal Blues the lead. Marcel Beifus then equalised from a corner before Fabian Schleusener sealed all three points at the death.

Elversberg 2-2 Hannover
Goals: 1-0
Petkov 22', 1-1 Le Joncour o.g. 43', 2-1 Conté 80', 2-2 Ghiță 85'

Elversberg remain unbeaten at home in the league this season, but missed the chance to go top after twice being pegged back by Hannover. Lukas Petkov headed in the opening goal to put the hosts in front, only for a Florian Le Joncour own goal to bring Hannover level late in the first half. Hannover's Enzo Leopold fired against the woodwork, before Bambasé Conté restored Elversberg's lead after Petkov's penalty had been saved by Nahuel Noll. Virgil Ghiță then headed in Leopold's cross to rescue a share of the spoils for the promotion-chasing Reds with five minutes of normal time remaining.

Bochum 2-0 Magdeburg
Goals:
1-0 Wätjen 41’, 2-0 Holtmann 60’

Bochum stretched their unbeaten run under Uwe Rösler to four matches with a hard-fought win. Both teams had chances in an entertaining first half, but the hosts struck first when Kjell Wätjen capitalised on an error in the Magdeburg defence before beating goalkeeper Dominik Reimann with a confident finish. Gerrit Holtmann completed the scoring on the hour mark, getting on the end of Maximilian Wittek’s corner and firing a low shot through Reimann’s legs and into the net before Magdeburg missed a late penalty.

Fortuna Düsseldorf 1-1 Kaiserslautern
Goals: 0-1
Sirch 55', 1-1 Suso 84'

Lautern were left disappointed to drop points after seeing the majority of the chances, and after taking the lead via a Luca Sirch free-kick, looked to seal an away win. After a disallowed Leon Robinson goal, Fortuna fought their way back - and levelled with a fantastic first strike for Sima Suso to secure the first point in Markus Anfang's reign.

Nuremberg 2-1 Eintracht Braunschweig
Goals: 1-0 Zoma 19’, 2-0 Becker 33’, 2-1 Ehlers 40’
Sent off: Ehlers 90’+3

Nuremberg put some breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone by making it four games unbeaten with victory at home to Braunschweig. In this meeting of former Bundesliga champions, the visitors made the better start, but Miroslav Klose’s men struck with both their first two of only five efforts in the game through Mohamed Alì Zoma and Finn Becker. Eintracht got one back before the break as Kevin Ehlers turned in a free-kick, but no more goals followed to condemn Braunschweig to a sixth loss in their last seven games, as Der Club leapfrogged them in the table. Ehler’s quick yellow cards at the end also mean Die Löwen have finished with 10 men in six of their 11 games this season.

Hertha Berlin 2-0 Dynamo Dresden
Goals: 1-0 Cuisance 13’, 2-0 Reese 45+2’ (pen)

Hertha claimed three more valuable points as the hosts did the damage in the first half. Michaël Cuisance opened the scoring with an individual stunner before Fabian Reese doubled the lead just before the break from the spot. Dynamo had their moments, but couldn’t find a way back into the game.

Preußen Münster 2-1 Holstein Kiel
Goals: 0-1 Kaprálik 18’, 1-1 Batista Meier 60’ (pen.), 2-1 Bouchama 77’

In a tough opening for Münster, forward Malik Batmaz was forced off with an apparent knee injury before Adrián Kaprálik stroked home Alexander Bernhardsson’s cross to give the visitors the lead. However, Oliver Batista Meier equalised from the penalty spot following Bernhardsson’s foul on Yassine Bouchama, who completed the turnaround with a sweetly-struck volley to end the hosts’ three-match run without a victory.

Darmstadt 2-2 BielefeldGoals: 1-0 Hornby 4’, 1-1 Sarenren Bazee 28’ 2-1 Lidberg 33’ 2-2 Großer 73’

Darmstadt twice came from behind to pick up a point against Bielefeld. The hosts dominated the opening exchanges, which saw Fraser Hornby open the scoring, but the hosts were pegged back when Noah Sarenren Bazee equalised. Isac Lidberg then scored his ninth of the campaign but Maximilian Großer scored late on to secure an important point for the visitors. The result means Bielefeld have won just one of their past six league fixtures.
