Full-time: Hannover 2-1 Bochum

After 90 minutes, the hosts win 2-1 against Bochum. From the off, it was an open and end-to-end affair, with both teams having their chances. In the 24th minute, Thórdarson finally put his side in front with a 1-0 lead from a corner kick, and just before the break Hartel extended the lead further to 2-0). In the second half, little happened for a long period, before Bochum pulled one back through Meyer to make it 1-2 in the closing stages. Just before the final whistle, Weinkauf kept his side ahead with a fine stop from Rasmussen.

Another Yellow Card

Klaiber goes in with a sliding tackle on the left touchline against Pichler and scythes the attacker down. There is certainly some frustration from the Bochum player involved as well.

Rasmussen is denied by Weinkauf

Miyoshi plays a strong through ball forward to the left into the box to his teammate, who is once again denied by the strong Hannover goalkeeper. The keeper comfortably saves the shot at the near post.

Two Minutes of Added Time

Schwengers adds an additional 120 seconds.
89'

Close Call

Almost an equaliser! Taz whips in a corner from the left with an inswinger. Klaiber lurks on the right at the edge of the box and volleys the ball first time from the edge of the penalty area. He aims for the bottom-left corner, but his half-volley whistles just narrowly past the post.
88'

Free kick from the left

Taz delivers the ball from just before the byline with a cut, whipping it high into the box, where the recently substituted Okon is alert in the centre and clears it safely with a header.
86'

Another substitution

Ghiță trudges off the pitch, as Okon is brought on for the final minutes.

Meyer does well

The youngster outpaces the Hanover player on the left flank, allowing Bochum to regain possession.
84'

Cramp for Thórdarson

The captain has a cramp in his left calf and is sitting on the pitch.
83'

Hosts sit deep

Hannover are dropping deep and surrending possession to the visitors.
80'

Pure tension

These will certainly be an uncomfortable last ten minutes for Hannover, as Bochum will not let up here and are pushing for the equaliser. Rösler keeps urging his men on from the touchline.
78'

Double Hannover change

Oudenne and Källman make way for Sahiti and Reinhold.
77'

It's not over yet!

Bochum are still in it! Substitute Taz shoots from around 20 yards out on the right side, Weinkauf deflects the shot away for a corner kick. The resulting corner from the right is then unluckily flicked on by Pichler with a header at the near post, and in the middle Meyer gratefully nods it into the bottom left corner from close range.

74'

No danger

Substitute Ikari takes aim from a long way out. His shot goes well wide of the bottom right of the goal.
73'

Can Bochum still stage a comeback?

The last time the away side picked up points after being two goals down was, in fact, against record Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. In March 2025, they managed a sensational 3-2 victory away at Bayern in the Bundesliga after trailing 0-2, albeit aided by a red card against München's Palhinha.
72'

Substitutions for both sides

For Bochum, Taz comes on as a substitute for Patiño, while the home side replace Gindorf with Pichler.
66'

The post is rattling again!

Gindorf gets a shot off from the left side and hammers the ball into the bottom left post. From there, the ball bounces out of play for a goal kick.

No Room to Breathe

Miyoshi puts Thórdarson under pressure.
64'

Miyoshi has a go...

Rasmussen plays in Miyoshi on the left side of the box and the forward shoots immediately from a few yards out at a tight angle. He aims for the bottom right corner, but the ball whizzes wide of the goal.
0:17

Almost an own goal

Mets attempts to play the ball back to Horn, but the defender completely mishits it and it flies towards the bottom right corner. Horn reacts alertly with a long stride and manages to deflect the ball past the post. The subsequent corner from the right comes to nothing.
61'

First substitution for the Ruhr club

Holtmann has to make way for Steuckers.
61'

The next booking

Steinwender wastes time with the ball in midfield after Schwengers awards a free kick to Hannover. The defender is shown a yellow card for this time-wasting.
60'

Sixty minutes played

Bochum are working towards a consolation goal and are looking to push forward. The visitors keep getting into good positions around the penalty area, but right now they are lacking a bit of creativity in the final third.
59'

Weinkauf time and again

Holtmann crosses from the left into the box, in the centre the goalkeeper comes out and claims the cross with great composure.
55'

Too inaccurate

Gindorf takes aim from the half-left space and targets the bottom right corner. Horn dives down and holds onto the ball securely.
53'

Blocked

Rasmussen plays the ball flat into the box from the right, Holtmann lurks on the left in the space behind and takes the pass first time. Thórdarson is standing right on the line in the path of the shot and blocks the attempt.
50'

Holtmann goes down

The winger puts on the pressure down the left flank and is pulled back by Allgeier grabbing his shirt. Holtmann subsequently goes to ground, but Schwengers' whistle remains silent. Rösler on the touchline cannot believe it and is absolutely furious.
0:16

Weinkauf in outstanding form

The goalkeeper has been more than a reliable last line of defence for Hannover so far and has already made seven saves. He also has an xSaves value of 5.7.

Half-time: Hannover 2-0 Bochum

After 45 minutes played, the 96ers lead 2-0 against Bochum. From the off, it was an open and end-to-end affair, with both teams having their chances. In the 24th minute, Thórdarson finally put his side in front from a corner kick, and just before the break Hartel even extended the lead to 2-0. Bochum put in a decent performance, but will now need to come up with something big in the second half.

45'

Wittek tries his luck

The left back lets fly from range central position. Weinkauf does well to tip the overly central effort over the crossbar. The keeper is also on hand at the resulting corner from the left, coming off his line to pluck the ball safely out of the air.
43'

Hannover extend their lead!

The hosts double their lead!! First, Thórdarson fails to convert from close range in the left-centre of the box, with his effort towards the bottom right corner saved by Horn, but the ball rebounds to the right where Ouedenne is unmarked. The forward keeps his composure and cleverly lays the ball centrally to the edge of the penalty area for Hartel, the new signing from MLS, who controls it once and then coolly finds the bottom corner of the net.

Just under five minutes to go

The first half is slowly drawing to a close. Will Bochum manage to equalise before the half-time whistle?
40'

Long-range effort

Holtmann cuts in from the left and shoots from 20 yards, Weinkauf dives into the bottom right corner and comfortably holds the shot.
37'

Almost the equaliser!

Bochum miss the chance to make it 1-1! Klaiber joins the attack and cuts in from the left side of the box, shooting from ten metres out. He aims for the bottom right corner, but Weinkauf dives lightning-fast and makes a superb save. Rasmussen lurks on the right, waiting to pounce on the rebound, but Hartel races back and clears just before the Bochum player can pull the trigger, sending it out for a corner. The resulting set piece from the right comes to nothing.

The intensity is ramping up

Both teams are giving absolutely no quarter in the duels.
33'

Ball played too far ahead

Meyer picks up pace nicely in midfield and then covers a good amount of ground. However, slightly to the right of centre in front of the penalty area, the Bochum player plays the ball too far ahead of himself and the attack breaks down.
32'

High Press

The visitors push their defensive line high and press Hannover early. Nevertheless, the Lower Saxons remain composed and look for creative solutions in their build-up play even under pressure.
29'

Bochum are not hiding

The Ruhr club seem unimpressed by the deficit and continue to push forward. The visitors are putting in anything but a poor away performance.
24'

Hannover take the lead!

That goal has been coming! A Hartel corner from the left flies in towards the far post, where Roggow deflects the ball with his foot rather involuntarily to the left into the six-yard box. There, Thórdarson is unmarked and tucks the ball from four metres into the left corner.

Wide to the right

After a long ball, the home side's offside trap fails to spring, leaving Rasmussen free on the right in front of the onrushing Weinkauf. The forward lifts the ball over the advancing goalkeeper, but his attempt goes well wide of the right post.
0:21

Hannover are getting closer

Coming forward down the right, the hosts work the ball into the box, where Oudenne shoots from a few yards out and is denied at the near post by Horn. Gindorf then picks up the rebound on the right, but Steinwender clears off the line!

Foot race

Rasmussen wins the sprint against Ghiță.
16'

Shot from Patiño

The new signing from Spain shoots from the right centre of the penalty area from 15 metres and aims for the bottom left corner. Weinkauf stretches and pulls off a fine save to claw the ball out.
16'

Off the post!

Holtmann shoots from the left edge of the penalty area. In the centre, Allgeier deflects the shot unchallenged and directs it onto the left post. Weinkauf is already beaten - that was a huge stroke of luck for the hosts!
15'

Quarter of an hour gone

Both teams have been evenly matched so far, largely cancelling each other out. Bochum have already had two quite solid efforts on goal, but Hannover are also showing good play-making approaches.
15'

Too central

Hofmann holds off Ghiță well on the right half-space with his back to goal and then turns to have a shot from 12 or so yards out. His low drive is too central and Weinkauf collects the ball comfortably.
13'

Another card

Thórdarson is booked for dissent. Schwengers has been keeping players on an extremely tight leash this afternoon.
10'

Early pressure

Bochum are looking for gaps up front. With the exception of goalkeeper Horn, all of Bochum's players are currently in Hannover's half.
8'

Early Yellow Card

Roggow extends his arm in a midfield challenge against Rasmussen and clearly handles the ball. Schwengers consequently books him with a yellow card for this deliberate infringement.
7'

Weinkauf does well

Holtmann plays the ball in from the left along the ground, but the keeper is alert and smothers the ball.
5'

Klaiber stays alert

Once again, Weinkauf plays the ball long forward, this time looking for Källman up front. However, Klaiber stays alert and gets to the ball ahead of the striker.
3'

First good attempt on goal

Rasmussen drives forward down the right flank, bursts into the box at pace and holds his own in the duel against Ghiță. From 10 yards out and in full stride, he goes for goal. Weinkauf is at the near post and saves the low shot at the second attempt.
2'

Into touch

Weinkauf plays the ball long forward to the right flank, looking for Oudenne, but the pass is overhit and goes into touch. Bochum are awarded a throw-in.
1'

The match is underway!

Schwengers blows his whistle to start the match and the ball is rolling. The away side kick things off and are playing in white and blue kits, while the home side take to the pitch in red jerseys.

The teams take to the pitch

Led by referee Schwengers, both teams are now making their way onto the pitch.

The fans are ready

Even before kick-off, there is a fantastic atmosphere here at the Heinz von Heiden Arena.

Six months without a home win

Hannover could, in the best case, leapfrog Bochum in the table with a win today, but to do so they would need to end their home curse. Hannover have not won a home match in exactly half a year! On March 20, they secured a 1-0 derby victory against Braunschweig, and since then the side from the banks of the Leine have managed five draws and one defeat in six home matches.

Wagner to become the new head coach

Starting tomorrow, Sandro Wagner will take charge at the Leinestadt club, as Hannover announced on Saturday evening. The former Augsburg chief will be tasked with steering the 96ers into calmer waters after the international break.

Bochum team news

Head coach Uwe Rösler makes one change to his starting XI following the 1-1 draw against Greuther Fürth. Pannewig is absent due to suspension and will be replaced by Patiño.

Hannover team news

Interim head coach Lars Barlemann makes two changes to his starting eleven following the 1-2 defeat against Nuremberg. Källman and Roggow come in for Pichler (bench) and Taïbi (not in the squad).

Interim Hannover coach Lars Barlemann on facing Bochum

"I really liked how the lads presented themselves in training. There was a great deal of joy in it. That gives us a lot of confidence."

Uwe Rösler on facing Hannover

"So far, away from home we have taken the lead every single time, even though at home, we've only managed that against Fürth. Hannover are a top side in my opinion. They show aggressive pressing, and that won't change after the change of manager either."

Titz dismissed

Hannover have reacted to their slow start by dismissing head coach Christian Titz. U23s coach Lars Barlemann will take charge of the first team on an interim basis as they prepare for the Bochum game.

Long wait

Bochum's last victory in Hannover came nearly 17 years ago in the Bundesliga, when they overturned a 2-0 half-time deficit to win 3-2 on 19 December 2009.

Bad omen for Bochum

In the previous 16 Bundesliga 2 meetings between Hannover and Bochum, the away side has never won. At home, Hannover have recorded five wins over Bochum and been held to three draws.

Another stalemate

The sides also drew 0-0 in Bochum as Timo Horn made a string of top saves and stopped a penalty from Hannover's Benjamin Källman.
