The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).

Nuremberg before kick-off

The hosts shared a moment with their fans before the game.

Siebers makes four changes

The Bochum interim manager reacts to the 0-1 defeat in Paderborn last weekend, bringing back Strompf and Wittek, as well as Mašović and Passlack in place of Loosli, Rösch, Wätjen and Onyeka, who all take their places on the bench.

Klose makes one change

Midfielder Markhiev starts for Nuremberg in place of striker Biron, who is missing due to illness.

David Siebers on facing Nuremberg and his tactics

"Intense, thrilling football. That's what I want, just like the VfL fans. Playing down the wings is very important to me. We've already been working on that in the last few days and you'll see that on Saturday as well."

Miroslav Klose on facing Bochum

"Everyone is aware of the situation we're in. I can see that on the training pitch as well. Throughout my career, I've gone through many highs and lows and fought my way out of many difficult situations. That's what I'm demonstrating now as a manager. In this situation, we also need to pay attention to who can deliver under pressure. We need to get points on Saturday."

No Hecking, no Dufner

Dieter Hecking was not granted a reunion with his former club - on Monday, the manager was ultimately dismissed after Bochum's poor start to the season. The same applies to sporting director Dirk Dufner. On an interim basis, the previous U19 coach David Siebers has taken over the management of the first team.
camera-photo

Good memories for Klose

Miroslav Klose scored his first Bundesliga hat-trick back in September 2004 away in Bochum – and that came as a substitute! He also provided an assist, as Bremen won 4-1.

Nuremberg's bogey team

Nuremberg last won against Bochum on 21 September 2017 in a 3-1 home win. That was also Nuremberg's only victory in 16 Bundesliga 2 meetings with Bochum, with the Ruhr club claiming 10 wins. Five games ended as draw.
camera-photo

Bochum looking to extend their streak

Bochum are unbeaten against Nuremberg in their last five matches, celebrating two victories and drawing three times. The last time both teams met was in the 2020/21 season, in which the Ruhr club claimed a 3-1 home win and drew away to the Bavarians.
