After leading at the break following a frantic first half, the second half's opening phase was significantly more tentative. However, after the sending-off, Münster became braver with their 10 men towards the end and thought they'd pulled off a remarkable result. Shortly before the final whistle, however, the hosts had the last say thanks to Egloff's winning goal.

Milestone for Wanitzek
Karlsruhe's captain is playing his 200th Bundesliga 2 match in his side's blue strip today.
More on that Preußen team
Münster's new head coach Ende has opted for a back-four, with Schulz operating as the holding midfielder in front of the defence. Batista Meier is tasked with providing creativity from an advanced midfield position as part of Ende's 4-1-3-2 formation.
Karlsruhe team news
For the hosts, three new summer signings are thrown straight into the starting XI. Bernat is between the sticks, while Müller starts in central midfield. In attack, Šimić also gets his chance right away.
Alexander Ende on facing Karlsruhe
"They have shown in recent years that they can compete at the top. I believe they can do so again. We have the ambition to have extreme flexibility within our system to pose challenges to opponents. In return, we have discussed a lot of defensive details so we can react to Karlsruhe."
Christian Eichner on facing Münster
"I am convinced that we will be ready on Saturday - we as a team, the club and the city. We're happy to get going again!"
Reunion with Lorenz
During Karlsruhe's last home victory against Münster (5-0 in December 2018 in the 3. Liga), Marc Lorenz was among the KSC goalscorers. Lorenz played for the Baden side from 2017 to 2022, earning promotion to Bundesliga 2 with them in 2019.
Not worth the journey
Preußen have never won at the Wildpark, with the 1-1 draw last season being Münster's first point gained in Karlsruhe after five previous defeats.
Rich tradition
In 1963/64, both clubs were founding members of the Bundesliga, and have since faced each other in 12 competitive matches. Karlsruhe have won seven, while Münster have managed just one victory (2-1 at home in April 2013 in 3. Liga).
No winner yet
Karlsruhe and Münster met in Bundesliga 2 for the first time last season. Both encounters ended 1-1 (KSC took the lead in each game).
