HAMBURG PREVAIL !
That's it ! HSV are up to provisional second in the standings following a hard-fought win against Karlsruher, who drop to ninth place. Reis's first-half magic trick is a worthy winner of a contest in which both sides had their chances.

NO PENALTY !
After a good, long, hard look at the challenge, the referee changes his mind and offers Karlsruher a reprieve. No penalty.
OR IS IT .... ?
The referee is going to take a look at this on his monitor ...
PENALTY HAMBURG !
Benes is upended in the box and the hosts have a chance to seal the deal here.
Decision No penalty
WRONG REIS OPTION
The ball falls for Reis, who for some reason chests into the air when the header looks on. Karlsruher hack clear.
Distance run (km)
Ambrosius throws a wobbler after a free kick is awarded against him and the ref pulls out a yellow card.
GLATZEL SITTER MISSED
Glatzel, me oh my. Jatta squares from the right, putting the ball on a plate for his teammate. The forward lets it run across his body and shanks wide from point-blank range. That was game, set and match right there.
Plenty of home applause for Kittel as he makes way for Benes with 15 minutes to go.
GLATZEL OFF TARGET
Glatzel is almost in twice. The forward had strayed inches offside before blasting over while he came closer to netting from a legal position moments later.

Reis almost gets his and Hamburg's second of the game when connecting with a cross from the left. The ball fizzes narrowly wide.
Double change for Karlsruher who introduce Kaufmann and Jung in an attempt to get back on terms here.
Kittel's free kick is headed away from danger.
Glatzel is dumped to the floor outside the Karlsruher area and this is going to be a big chance for the hosts who have a free kick in a very interesting position.
HAMBURG REMAIN IN FRONT
Jatta is on his travels again and enters the away area, winding up to shoot. At the last second his control lets him down and Karlsruher can clear.
VISITORS ON THE UP
Christian Eichner's men are having a moment here. Wanitzek draws a fine stop from Heuer Fernandes in the Hamburg goal. The HSV shot stopper has been in solid form tonight.
Karlsruher counter through Gondorf, who feeds Wanitzek. The visitors' No.10 has time to shape and shoot, however, his effort is deflected wide. The subsequent corner comes to nothing.
Jatta breaks through on the right and enters the area before cutting inside and firing at goals from an angle. Gersbeck parries the ball over the top.
An energetic run forward by Dompe has the fans on their feet but the attacker fails to pick out a teammate in the area and the move breaks down.
HSV kick off the second half. Can the Red Shorts go on to win from here? They've emerged victorious in the last nine games in which they've led at the break.
REIS GOAL KEY
The ref signals the end of a very entertaining first half. Both sides had several good chances in the opening 45 minutes, but Reis taking matters into his own hands has led to Hamburg leading.
HAMBURG LEAD !
What is this? Reis picks up possession wide on the right. Surely this will end up as a cross. Reis has a look and drifts across, then a little more. He eventually comes so far that he may as well shoot, which he does, and the ball flies into the corner. Mesmeric!
GOAL!1 : 0
Kittel has the ball at his feet after a sweeping forward thrust ends with Glatzel playing in his teammate. The Hamburg No. 10 spins and fires at goal but Gersbeck saves with his feet.
A free kick into the Karlsruher area and it looks like there might be a handful of HSV players offside. Dompe isn't bothered by that as he keeps his concentration following a run from in behind. He controls and then sees his shot blocked wide.
ONE MORE CHANCE
Schleusener races into the area, gets ahead of his marker, slides for the pass and prods inches wide. Karlsruher could, and probably should be leading here.
HUGE CHANCE !
What a chance! Jatta races onto the a through pass and suddenly sees Marius Gersbeck is way off his line. The Hamburg man tries to push the ball wide to open up a shot at the empty goal but he just can't quite get it right and his effort eventually flies wide.

Mario Vuskovic's set-piece shot from a central area is no good and Hamburg regroup in the hope of building again post haste.
DOMPE OFF TARGET
Jean-Luc Dompe has a pop from distance but the ball fizzes over the top. Applause from the home fans who are happy to see their team's first shot in some time.
HSV SURVIVE VAR CHECK
VAR take a considerable time to check an incident in the Hamburg area but the review comes back with nothing untoward to report.

HOSTS UP AGAINST IT
Philip Heise spanks one in from the left and Heuer Fernandes is there again to save. The Hamburg goalie lets an almighty roar at his teammates, and rightly so. HSV have been really up against it here.
HEUER FERNANDES SAVES
Oooh, so close for the visitors. Fabian Schleusener gets to the cross and arrows a first-time effort at goal from close range. Heuer Fernandes pulls off a superb reflex save, the 'keeper getting down rapidly to palm that out.
Nice from the hosts. Kittel megs his opponent before drilling a low effort at the target. Gersbeck drops to his elbows and gathers.
FIRST STRIKE !
First chance for the visitors ! We're straight into the action and it's Schleusener who fires wide for Karlsruher.

ALL SET FOR THE OFF
The teams are lining up and we're all set to go here in what is set to be a spectacular encounter in Germany's second tier.
ON A ROLL
With 10 points from a possible 18, Karlsruhe have made their best start to a Bundesliga 2 campaign for eight years. Christian Eichner's side have scored 11 and conceded just two goals in their last three games alone, and have won as many times in that period as they did in their previous 20 league assignments.
WHO IS WILLIAM MIKELBRENCIS?
William Mikelbrencis joined Hamburg from Metz on deadline day. The France U18 right-back has signed a four-year deal. "William caught our eye last season, when he made a splash in Ligue 1. He'll need some time to settle in, but we expect him to play a part this season - not just in the future," explained HSV board member Jonas Bold.
"We have been more successful away from home so far, but we want to replicate that at home," said HSV coach Tim Walter, whose team have won one and lost two at the Volksparkstadion this term. "We want to be wide awake from the start, full of confidence and full of energy, and we want to play the football we stand for."
