This is the only change for Die Fohlen from their last match before the winter break. Gladbach boost defensive options

Borussia have added centre-back Kota Takai from Tottenham Hotspur on loan during these early stages of the transfer window. The 21-year-old has not yet made an appearance for the English Premier League outfit, but has four caps for his country Japan.

Loan signing Kōta Takai made his debut for Gladbach, but their winter friendly did not go according to plan as they were well beaten by their Bundesliga 2 opponents. Unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet, the Foals created several good chances and hit the crossbar.

Despite their respective struggles this season, both of these teams have actually been pretty effective in front of goal. Gladbach have made 63 per cent of their big chances count - marginally more than Augsburg (60 per cent) - meaning they both sit behind only Bayern Munich and Mainz in terms of goal-scoring efficiency.
