A long ball over the top releases the fresh legs of Grüll, who cuts back onto his right, beats a man, and shoots. However, Wahl manages to get a block in. Chances are beginning to open up for the hosts here, though.

Bremen work it very nicely from defence to attack. Schmid has an opportunity to shoot from the edge of the box. His effort is blocked and the ball falls to Stage, whose shot is similarly stopped before it can reach Vasilj.

Horst Steffen opts for his second substitution, replacing Njinmah with Grüll in a near like-for-like change. Can the Austrian help the hosts rediscover their first-half spark?

Njinmah wins the ball back high up the pitch for Bremen. He lays it off to Puertas on the right side of the Pauli box, but his effort is blocked.

It's decided that Agu cannot continue and he is replaced by Schmidt.

Following the challenge on Kaars, Agu stays down, seemingly in considerable discomfort. He's come off the pitch for further treatment to his ankle, though is yet to be substituted. As such, Bremen will continue playing for the next couple minutes with 10 men.

Mbangula leads a Bremen break and plays Njinmah into the box, who takes a fall under a challenge. The Bremen players scream for a penalty, but the referee correctly dismisses the protests.

Puertas' high pressure on Smith earns the hosts a corner. Schmid takes it - an outswinger from the right - finding Stage, but the No.6 sells Mbangula short in trying to tee him up and Pauli clear.

There's a stoppage in play as Lynen receives treatment after a collision with a Pauli player. He's back to his feet now, though, and play resumes.

Puertas tries to dance through numerous legs into the Pauli box, but is dispossessed. Bremen reclaim the ball, working it to Stage at the edge of the box, who feints to make space for a shot, which he takes with his left. Vasilj dives down well to his left to smother the attempt.

After Bremen were awarded a free-kick for a Fujita foul on Stage just inside the Pauli half, Puertas takes, finding Stage at the back post with a floated cross. The midfielder heads back across goal, finding Coulibaly unmarked at the penalty spot, but the defender's half-volley flies over the bar.

Agu wins a duel high up the left flank and takes the ball to the byline, however, his cutback can't find a teammate and Pauli clear.

Puertas stands over a free-kick from the left half-space not far from the Pauli goal. He opts to shoot, but his powerful effort is straight at the wall.
