Watch: Inácio elated after maiden Dortmund goal

camera-photo

Full time: Dortmund 3-2 Frankfurt

In the end it was a comfortable win for Dortmund, who secure runners-up spot in the process. Frankfurt started brightly and took the lead inside two minutes, but BVB struck twice in quick succession just before the break to wrestle control of the match. Inácio’s first-ever goal for the club effectively killed the game off, rendering Burkardt’s late effort little more than a consolation. It’s going to be tough for the Eagles to qualify for Europe now.

Huge ovation!

Süle takes to the Signa Iduna Park pitch one last time prior to his impending retirement at the age of 30.

Frankfurt pull one back!

Knauff bursts into space down the left and squeezes the ball back into the box, via a deflection off Kobel. Burkardt reacts quickest and flicks the ball into the empty net from close range!

Inviting from Knauff

The Frankfurt attacker plays are lovely low ball into the box from the right. It just needs someone arriving late to smash it in, but there's nobody in a Frankfurt shirt doing so, and the chance goes begging.

Changes aplenty

It's all been a bit stop-start for the last few minutes as both teams make substitutions.

A legend departs

Brandt leaves the field to thunderous applause as Adeyemi comes on for the final 15 minutes, while Nmecha takes Bellingham's place in midfield.

Maiden Dortmund goal for Inácio!

That could well be the decisive blow now. There are plenty of Frankfurt defenders back but none of them close down Bellingham, who has space to find the unmarked Beier on the left. He crosses into the middle for Inácio, who volleys in hist first-ever goal for Dortmund!

Teasing delivery

Schlotterbeck curls an inswinging corner from the right. It evades a couple of people at the near post and nearly catches Zetterer off guard, but the Eintracht goalkeeper manages to react in time to flick it clear.
66'

Bahoya positive

The substitute, on the left, suddenly accelerates as he tries to get past Sabitzer and wins a corner in the processs.

Going out on a high

Brandt, playing his final game as a Dortmund player at Signal Iduna Park, has so far covered more ground than any other player (8.7 kilometres).
63'

Uzun!

Some nice play from Frankfurt culminates with the ball at Uzun's feet on the edge of the Dortmund box. He skips past his marker and shoots at goal, but it lacks both power and precision, and Kobel pats it away.
60'

Great chance for Ryerson!

Frankfurt can't get the ball clear following a corner and after a bit of pinball inside their box, a loose ball falls into the path of Ryerson, about 10 yards from goal. He only has Zetterer to beat but shoots straight at him.
57'

Attacking changes

Riera shakes up his side's attack as former Dortmund midfielder Götze comes on for Dahoud, while Bahoya replaces Chaïbi.

Goal disallowed

Uzun dinks a lovely pass into the path of Chaïbi, who runs the length of the Dortmund half before curling it past Kobel and into the net. It won't count though, as the Algerian was offside when he received the ball.
52'

Frankfurt unhurried

Despite being a goal down and needing a win if they are to have any chance of qualifying for Europe, the away side are waiting until Dortmund get into their half before pressing them. BVB, for their part, are in no rush to do so.
48'

Almost a chance for Dortmund

Brandt's cross from the right is a tricky one for Frankfurt to defend, with Guirassy making mischief in the middle. Koch tries to thump it clear but the ball hits Theate and goes out for a corner.
46'

Here we go again!

Dortmund get the ball rolling. Neither side made any substitutions at the break.
後半開始

Half-time: Dortmund 2-1 Frankfurt

BVB were not at their fluid best for much of the first 45 minutes but they nevertheless have the lead. Frankfurt were compact, aggressive and created a number of presentable openings on the counter, but they seemingly switched off with half-time approaching and conceded a pair of quickfire goals to leave them behind at the interval.

Sensational finish!

Having struggled to break Frankfurt down for much of the game, Dortmund score at an ideal time. Brandt wins the ball off Theate and Brown and slides the ball to his right to Ryerson, who whips an inviting cross into the box. Guirassy gets there ahead of Koch and lifts a delicate flick into the far corner.

Dōan a whisker away

Kalimuendo bursts forward and spreads the ball wide to his right to Dōan. He cuts inside his marker and drills a low shot towards the near post - and he doesn't miss by much.

Chaïbi!

The midfielder gets behind the Dortmund defence, on the left-hand side. He has space to work in but seems to rush his cross into the middle, allowing BVB to clear.
35'

Opening for Uzun

Dortmund's build-up play on the halfway line is far too ponderous and Eintracht nip in to intercept. Kalimuendo leads the charge and the ball is eventually worked to Uzun, who shoots from the edge of the box, but it's blocked before Kobel needs to intervene.
33'

Zetterer plucks a high cross out of the sky and then immediatley indicates that he needs some help. It looks like a contact lens has slipped out of place.

Zetterer to the rescue!

Dortmund take a free-kick quickly down the right and Brandt's cross into the middle finds Inácio unmarked on the edge of the six-yard box. He directs a powerful header at goal, but it's straight at Zetterer, who makes a brilliant reflex save before berating his defence.
15'

Sabitzer has a go

Dortmund's high press forces Zetterer to hoof the ball long, and BVB win possession back. Brandt jinks down the left and passes inside to Sabitzer, whose first-time effort catches Zetterer off guard - but it bobbles just wide of the goal.
12'

Dōan almost in

The Japanese attacker scurries down the right as he tries to latch onto a long ball forward. He's quicker than Schlotterbeck, who is relieved to see Kobel dart off his line to smother the danger.

Dortmund scrapping

The early setback has sharpened BVB's focus and they're now biting into the challenges as they seek a way back into the game.

Dressed to impress

BVB will debut their new home kit for next season today. The jersey features a subtle pattern representing the steel framework structures of the Minister Stein colliery and the Dortmunder U building, in a nod to the Ruhr region's industrial and mining background.

Albert Riera on facing Dortmund

"Statistics are there to be broken. But that's not what we're focusing on. Instead, we're focusing on the things we can control, playing compactly and working well together as a team both on and off the ball."

Süle saying goodbye

The defender, who joined the club in 2022, revealed he will call time on his playing days after narrowly avoiding a cruciate ligament tear recently. “When I look back on my four years in Dortmund, there were so many moments I really enjoyed," he said. "The banter in the dressing room, the stadium – we’re talking about 80,000 people here. The fans always gave me a warm welcome. I’m going to miss that very much."

Familiar face

Dortmund head coach Niko Kovač was in the Eintracht dugout between 2016 and 2018, winning the DFB Cup in 2018. It was the club's first trophy in 30 years.
camera-photo

BVB's miserly defence

The Black-Yellows have been impressive at the back so far this season, conceding just 32 times in their 32 games. That is the best return in the division, three fewer than runaway champions Bayern. In contrast, only three teams have shipped more than Frankfurt's 60. At the same point of each of the past three seasons, their total was lower than 50.
camera-photo

Frankfurt also out of form

The Eagles have also had their problems in recent weeks, winning just one of their last six games. In their three most recent matches, meanwhile, they have managed just one point, and have been overtaken by Freiburg, who now occupy the final European qualification spot.
camera-photo

Dortmund's recent struggles

After losing just two of their opening 28 Bundesliga matches - both of which were against champions Bayern Munich - Dortmund have now lost three of their last four. While a UEFA Champions League spot is secure, they are not mathematically guaranteed to finish as runners-up just yet, although a win in this game would get them over the line.
