'Schlotty' commits future to Dortmund

On Friday, Borussia Dortmund announced that defender Nico Schlotterbeck has signed a contract extension at the club, keeping him at BVB until 2031. The 26-year-old, whose previous deal at Dortmund was due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season, expressed his delight at the news, saying: “I’m absolutely delighted to have extended my contract with BVB [...] The club officials presented me with a good plan, and I know what I have at this club. My goal is to win titles together with Borussia Dortmund.”

Serhou Guirassy may not have hit the heights of seasons gone by in 2025/26, but the Guinean marksman has scored some very important goals for Dortmund this term. Of his 13 Bundesliga strikes so far, six (around 46 percent) have been the game's opening goal.

First time for everything

Just three days separated Leverkusen's home loss in the league to the Black-Yellows and their cup victory at Signal Iduna Park earlier this season. They also won 3-2 at Dortmund in last term's Bundesliga, but have never recorded three straight competitive victories on BVB soil.
