At half-time in a topsy turvy encounter in the capital, it's Bremen who lead. The hosts assumed an early lead after Köhn dispatched the penalty that was awarded following Stark's foul on Ansah. A shock dismissal of Schäfer minutes later opened the door for the visitors, who before long found themselves in front thanks to Deman and Stage. Despite the man advantage, it's still all to play for in the second half here.

Khedira switches allegiances

The Tunisian FA confirmed on Wednesday that Union's Rani Khedira is now eligible to represent the country after FIFA agreed to his request to switch, having played for Germany at youth level. The 32-year-old brother of 2014 World Cup winner Sami could now make his senior international debut this month and potentially go to this summer's World Cup.

With Union struggling for form, Werder could be the perfect side to welcome to the capital. While they do come into this fixture on the back of a win, Bremen have won just once from 12 games on the road this season.

Impressive Schmid

Romano Schmid has been a creative hub for Bremen this term. The Austrian provided the assist for Bremen's opener in the win over Heidenheim last time out, which was his sixth of the season to equal his personal best from the 2023/24 campaign.
