Full-time: Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 Freiburg

Albert Riera's men take all three points after an assured performance in front of a home crowd. They made life difficult for Freiburg at both ends of the pitch from the off, giving little away defensively and making Julian Schuster's work hard in their own defensive third. It took a while for them to break the deadlock, which came courtesy of Chaïbi almost immediately after coming on in the second half. Bahoya then made sure of the points with a delightful, confident finish over Atubolu.

Perfect timing

Bahoya's goal came at a time when there may have been concerns about conceding a late goal. His side now have breathing space going into the final stages.

What a finish!

Chaïbi turns provider, lifting the ball over Treu into the path of Bahoya, who then lobs Atubolu from a tight angle to make it two. Incredible goal!

Travel sickness?

Freiburg sit 14th in the table when it comes to away form, having won just two of 12 games on the road. They've lost seven of the remaining 10 games, and have a goal difference of -12.
camera-photo

History on their side

Frankfurt are unbeaten in their last seven against Freiburg, winning three and drawing four. The last time the visitors got the better of them was in the 2021/22 season, when they won 2-1 at Deutsche Bank Park. Vincenzo Grifo was on the scoresheet for Freiburg that day.
camera-photo

Julian Schuster on facing Frankfurt

"You can tell Frankfurt have clear patterns of play without the ball - they've shown that in all their games under Albert Riera so far. When they have possession, there are also things that the new coach clearly values. It's an important game for us. We're prepared and confident we can get a result."
camera-photo

Albert Riera on facing Freiburg

"This is a new start and we want to create something beautiful. I said on the first day, I want us to be proud of how we play. We have four very important games before the next international break. We want to win all the games, if possible. We have to win tomorrow, but what does that entail? Doing a lot of good things for 90 minutes - defending when we don't have the ball, and surprising the opponent with the ball."
camera-photo

Familiar faces

Ritsu Dōan spent three years at Freiburg before his switch to Frankfurt, producing a number of memorable performances. Meanwhile, Igor Matanović scored twice in 25 appearances across all competitions for the Eagles before joining Freiburg last summer.
camera-photo

Burkardt's favourite opponent

Frankfurt's Jonathan Burkardt, who is once again fit after a long spell on the sidelines, has scored four goals in his career against Freiburg - more than versus any other side. Two of those efforts came in the first meeting between the two this term.
camera-photo

Freiburg's set-piece danger

Julian Schuster's side have benefitted from dead-ball situations this term. They have scored 16 goals from such positions - only Bayern have managed more - which is significantly more than Frankfurt's nine. With Vincenzo Grifo in their team, they have a free-kick and corner specialist.
camera-photo

Battle for seventh

This game will pit two teams against each other who are both in the race for seventh spot, which could offer European football depending on how the rest of the season plays out. Freiburg currently occupy the position, but their lead could be overturned in this encounter.
