ENTERTAINMENT CENTRAL

What a pulsating game that was, with two more goals from Erling Haaland and four more from a Dortmund side who simply cannot stop scoring (and conceding!) Union put up a fight, but it is the Westphalians who take the spoils.

HAALAND MATCHES LEWANDOWSKI

The race to be the top-scorer this season promises to be a tight one, with Haaland joining Lewandowski on seven goals, and he now has 68 goals in 67 games for BVB - more than one per game.

MORE THAN ONE WAY TO SHOOT

Haaland reveals his inner Ibrahimovic, trying a backheeled volley and very nearly pulling it off, the ball deflecting behind for a corner.

ONLY ONE WAY TO STOP THEM

And that is with a foul. Ryerson this time halts Moukoko in his tracks on a promising attack for BVB, with Haaland in support.

BEHRENS CLOSE!

Union's bouncebackability is trampoline-tastic, but Behrens does not quite cut the arrears again - although he was not far away.
86'

REUS HITS THE POST!

Very nearly a fifth for Dortmund as Reus curls a free-kick against the base of the post. It comes out to Wolf, whose shot is deflected behind for a corner.
85'

GOAL MONSTER

Just to add further context to how much of a goal monster Haaland is: his xG for today lies at 0.4, which means he would have been expected to have scored not even half a goal based on the chances he has had. Well, he has scored two.
83'

OH, WAIT...

We forgot that Haaland is still on the field and that can only mean one thing: goals' threat. What a fantastic finish that one is, at full stretch to lob the ball over Luthe into the far corner. Cushion restored, and just three more for half a century!

GAME ON!

It cannot be said they have not deserved it! Voglsammer slips right into Kruse's magical goalscoring boots and heads in from a corner to reduce the arrears to just one goal, and ten minutes still to play!

NO SOLE RECORD FOR KRUSE

Goal 13 for Union is not going to arrive for Kruse today, as he is replaced by Voglsammer, though to be fair, he does look pretty tired after putting in an excellent shift.
76'

HAALAND STILL THE FASTEST

Wolf did not quite beat Haaland's best mark from this afternoon with that sprint.

HAALAND v2

Those who had never seen Wolf and Haaland in the same place at the same time now have proof they are indeed two different people, not that those pony tails are making it easy to tell them apart, and a burst of pace to retrieve the ball was very Haaland-esque of the Dortmund substitute.
72'

GOAL SPREE

Dortmund have already netted 16 goals this season, in (almost) five matches. The last time they had so may at this stage of a campaign was in 2015/16 under Thomas Tuchel. On the flip side, they have yet to keep a clean sheet.
72'

UNION PRESSING

Union are asking a lot of questions of the Dortmund defence here, and they have won 61% of their challenges since the break. Will something give?
68'

RYERSON RATTLES KOBEL

Write Union off at your peril! As we head into the final quarter of the game, Ryerson drills in a diagonal shot which stings the palms of Kobel in the Dortmund goal. Another good opportunity for the guests.
67'

KRUSE RECORD

That penalty means that Max Kruse is now on 12 goals for Union, making him their joint all-time top-scorer in the Bundesliga with Sebastian Andersson.
62'

KOBEL AHEAD OF KRUSE

That could have been dangerous! Kobel is once again alert to pounce on a cross from the right as Kruse is lurking for an easy tap-in.
61'

REUS FIRES OVER

Another good move from Dortmund and the cross from Dahoud is like a moving penalty for Reus, who skies his effort into the Südtribüne.
57'

NO MISTAKE!

Kruse gives Kobel no chance from the penalty spot, waiting for the Dortmund custodian to commit before sending the ball in the opposite direction. Game on!

PENALTY!

Witsel's challenge is deemed a foul and it's a penalty for Union!
56'

RYERSON CLOSE!

Almost a lifeline for Union! Ryerson forces a fine save out of Kobel from close range and Behrens, only on the field for a matter of seconds, is challenged by Witsel just in front of goal. VAR review underway...

NOWHERE TO GO!

Bellingham this time runs clear and sends Reus through. His cross is in that dangerous area in front of goal that Friedrich has little choice but to try to turn away, and nine times out of ten it ends up as an own-goal, like on this occasion.

RUGBY TACKLE WARNING

Gießelmann gets his sports mixed up as Jude Bellingham tries to run clear, hauling him down with a rugby tackle with the referee's yellow card confirms is not allowed in this sport.
50'

HUMMELS IN HARD

Awoniyi turns the Dortmund defender, who goes in hard and gets a yellow card for his troubles.
49'

GUERREIRO FROM DISTANCE

His goal has given him confidence, as Guerreiro takes a dip from distance, but misses the target.
46'

REUS ROLLS IT IN...

A lovely pass from Reus into the path of Dahoud inside the penalty area, but Luthe is alert to the danger and quick off his line to smother the ball before the Dortmund midfielder can reach it.

PLENTY TO COME

The two teams have made the 60-metre return to the field of play, but there is some way to go in this game. Union ran already 2km more in the first half, suggesting they are willing to go the extra mile to get back into this game.
45'

DOMINANT DORTMUND

A deserved half-time lead for Dortmund, thanks to a man who cannot stop scoring. Haaland is now four shy of 50 Bundesliga goals, and you would not bet against him reaching that landmark in the second 45 minutes.
45'
+ 1

ONE MORE MINUTE

Not much time for a goal, but when you've got a Haaland on the field...
44'

DAHOUD GOES IT ALONE

Dahoud dribbles his way past three players and, when he reaches the edge of the area, he takes aim for goal, missing by several feet to the right.
40'

BETTER FROM UNION

Friedrich sends in a low shot which is not too difficult for Kobel, but that is already a second attempt in a matter of minutes - encouraging signs for the guests after a difficult 40 minutes.
38'

CHANCE GOES BEGGING

That was an opportunity for Union to get a foothold in the game, but Awoniyi not only misses the target, he sends the ball out for a throw-in.
35'

TEN OUT OF, ERM, EIGHT

Haaland's goalscoring exploits are quite outstanding, with this already his 10th goal of the season, in only his eighth match. That's 67 in 67 games for Dortmund all told.

That goal was Erling Haaland's 46th in just 48 matches, making him the youngest player to so many goals at 21.16 years old, bettering the record previously held by Klaus Fischer.

HAALAND HEADER!

There is no stopping Erling Haaland! Meunier delivers the ball from the right and the Norwegian leaps in between two Union defenders to head in Dortmund's second and earn some kisses blown from his coach Marco Rose!

DORTMUND = GOALS

Dortmund have scored at least one goal in 37 consecutive Bundesliga matches, the third-longest streak in history (only Bayern have two longer such streaks).
20'

UNUSUAL FOR UNION

For the first time in this Bundesliga season, Union have conceded the 1st goal in a match, trailing 1-0 for the first time (though they were behind 2-1 in Hoffenheim).
19'

MALEN CHANCES

Two chances in less than a minute for Malen, whose first effort from 20 yards is saved well before he gets in even closer to test Andreas Luthe.
16'

HAALAND CLOSE!

Reus sent the free-kick in and it took two deflections on its way just inches wide of the goal, the second coming - intentionally or not - from Haaland's head.
15'

CAPTAIN BOOKED

The only way Friedrich could halt Reus' progress towards the penalty area was by clipping his heel. A professional foul, and a yellow card.
14'

QUICKEST BVB GOAL

Not only was that shot going at a rate of knots, it was also the quickest goal Dortmund have scored this season.
11'

PICK THAT ONE OUT!

He may have got lucky with a rebound, but a great sequence of short passes carved through the Union defence and the ball sat up for Guerreiro to volley in from an angle - what a finish!

HUMMELS' RELIEF

One man happy to see the linesman's flag raised there was Mats Hummels, who is making his first start of the season in the Bundesliga and was caught out by Awoniyi's run, although the German defender may argue he knew exactly what he was doing, leaving the Union forward in an offside position.
1'

QUICK START FOR UNION

Awoniyi has the ball in the back of the net after just 40 seconds, but the linesman's flag has been raised and it does not count!
キックオフ

THE HAALAND ROAR

Before the ball gets rolling, Haaland rallies his troops, roaring motivational words at them. He is up for this, which is not what Union will want to see.

WATCH: HAALAND NAMED BUNDESLIGA PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR AUGUST

Here's why...

TEAM NEWS - UNION

Union boss Urs Fischer has made four changes to his side, who were also in European action during the week in the inaugural UEFA Conference League campaign (a 3-1 loss to Slavia Prague). Baumgartl, Ryerson, Gießelmann, and Prömel all come into the side in place of Jaeckel, Trimmel, Puchacz and Haraguchi.

TEAM NEWS - DORTMUND

Head coach Marco Rose makes just one change to the side that defeated Besiktas in the Champions League during the week: Axel Witsel begins in midfield for Julian Brandt.

HEAD TO HEAD

It's even stevens historically: both teams have won two of the four Bundesliga fixtures they've met in, with each winning twice on home turf. Dortmund are yet to concede to Union at Signal Idua Park, winning 2-0 and 5-0, while the capital club have triumphed 2-1 and 3-1 on their own patch.
