Over the bar
Hertha are making it very tight around the penalty area despite being a man down. Šimić therefore tries his luck from distance, but puts his right-footed shot too high.

Magdeburg keep pushing
The visitors try their luck with another cross, which Gersbeck plucks out of the air.

Šimić replaces the very impressive Kwarteng.

Counter-attack opportunity
Thorsteinsson has space down the right and charges forward at pace. Just before the byline he lays the ball back to Klemens, but his attempt at a shot slips off his foot.

Impressive stat
Magdeburg's Nollenberger has already come under pressure from opponents 22 times, but managed to free himself in 73 per cent of those situations.

Among others, the Bayern loanee Chávez comes on. Can he help salvage a point for Magdeburg?

Ten minutes to go
Magdeburg have had more possession in the last few minutes. Can they find an equaliser, or will Hertha hold their slender lead here?
79'
Headed clear
The match is settling down a bit now. Magdeburg have a corner from the left, which comes down at the near post and is cleared without any trouble.
77'
Rare sight
For Müller, this is only his second red card in his 114th second division match, with the first coming eight years ago for Magdeburg in Heidenheim.
75'
Almost another super sub!
Leitl once again shows a good eye for substitutions. Magdeburg play the ball poorly out from the back and right to Schuler's feet. With his first touch since coming on he fires the ball over the bar. There was more in that for the Hertha man...

Another big chance!
Nollenberger whips in a sharp cross from the left half-space. Zukowski just misses the contact, and Gersbeck is there behind him to smother the ball in his arms. This is a good spell for the away side...
69'
Crossbar!
Atik plays the ball back from his left side to Michel. Magdeburg's goalscorer takes one touch and unleashes a long-ranged shot. It takes a massive deflection and rattles the crossbar — lucky escape for Hertha!

Cleared off the line!
Hertha had lost their grip on the game in the last few minutes, but now they're back in it with a corner kick. Kolbe gets free for a header from a corner, Reimann is already beaten, but Nollenberger clears off the line for the visitors!
64'
Into thin air
Atik squanders the free-kick, sending the ball flying unchecked into touch behind the goal.

Defensive substitution
Leitl responds to the red card and brings on defender Klemens for striker Grönning.

Seguin wide awake!
Magdeburg appear to be not too shaken by falling behind once again. Iyoha drives through on the right and plays a low ball into the centre, where Seguin manages to block Zukowski's attempt!
53'
Thorsteinsson establishing himself
A goal last week, and an assist today – the Icelander is one of the big winners following the restructuring at Hertha, having previously been a fringe player who was even sent out on loan in the second half of last season.
51'
Same old story
With a slight touch on the foot, Seguin brings down Zukowski, who had a fairly clear run in the centre circle. Again, a yellow card is the logical consequence.

Off target
Hyryläinen steps on Sessa's foot, earning Hertha a free-kick. From the delivery into the box, it is Sessa himself who puts the ball well wide of the goal.

We're off again!
Hertha bring on Adewumi, on loan from Burnley, in place of Gouram for the second half. The ball is rolling again.

Gersbeck playing sweeper keeper
Another curious incident. After a long-ranged shot from Kolbe, which Reimann saves comfortably, the Magdeburg keeper acts quickly and plays the ball forward. The ball comes down not far from the halfway line, where Hertha's own custodian Gersbeck wins the aerial duel with Atik!

First yellow for the visitors
García MacNulty fouls Thorsteinsson roughly on the right touchline, earning him a booking.

Good idea
Atik plays a high ball over a Hertha defensive line. Michel then has something similar in mind, looking to play the ball into the path of Zukowski, but the ball gets intercepted by a Berlin defender.
41'
Penalty shout
Thorsteinsson falls to the ground under a challenge from Michel and Hertha appeal for a penalty, but the referee correctly deems it insufficient to point to the spot.
40'
Reimann with a stunning save!
There is a good back-and-forth in these minutes. From a Hertha corner on the left, Thorsteinsson flicks the ball on with his head whilst standing with his back to goal. Reimann reacts swiftly by throwing up his right arm. What a save from the Magdeburg goalkeeper!

0:22
Bizarre situation
36'
Double block
Atik fires a free-kick from a central position directly into the Hertha wall. He then lays off the rebound to Michel, but the goalscorer rushes his shot somewhat, and sees his effort blocked also.

A rare spell of possession for Magdeburg. Zukowski drives the ball forward, laying it off to the right flank. However, the ball is quickly turned over to the opposition.

Heads up
Eitschberger whips in a curling cross from the right into the box, where a Magdeburg defender manages to clear ahead of two of his Hertha team-mates.

No record today
Before kick-off, Magdeburg had the chance to keep a clean sheet in three consecutive matches for the first time in Bundesliga 2, but Josip Brekalo ensured that record would not be set today.
18'
Almost 2-0!
Grönning plays out to the right flank to Thorsteinsson, who cuts the ball back into the centre immediately. There, Gouram rounds Reimann with a superb piece of skill, but then finds himself at a relatively tight angle with two Magdeburg players on the line in front of him and cannot quite squeeze the ball home.
15'
Shot blocked
After a free-kick, the ball drops for Gouram who gets a fairly free volley from a central position on the edge of the Magdeburg penalty area, but his attempt is blocked.
15'
Quicker visitors
Magdeburg win the ball back after losing possession on average ten seconds quicker than hosts Hertha need.

How will Magdeburg respond?
The match is becoming increasingly frantic, and Hertha will naturally look to capitalise on the unsettled nature of the game to extend their lead. Magdeburg need to calm things down.
12'
First booking
Thorsteinsson slides in from behind on García MacNulty, earning him the first yellow card of the afternoon.
11'
Assist by Pedersen
A strong pass from the new signing for the opener saw the summer arrival collect his first goal contribution in a Hertha shirt.

Almost the first shot on goal
After winning the ball, Kolbe plays it quickly and spots Grönning making a run in behind. The ball drops perfectly for the Dane, but he delays the attempt in front of Reimann, allowing Müller, who had tracked back, to stop the attacker just as he is about to shoot.
3'
Energetic out of possession
The high press seems to be Hertha's weapon of choice in the early stages. Grönning attempts an offensive sliding tackle, but García MacNulty anticipates it and skilfully evades, before turning possession back over to the hosts with a misplaced long pass.
2'
Early press
Hertha immediately press high after losing possession and force Magdeburg goalkeeper Reimann into going long after he had looked to play out from the back.

And we're off!
The ball is rolling here in Berlin. It's hosts Hertha who get us under way here.
キックオフ
Top spot in sight
Should Hertha win their fourth consecutive match at the start of this Bundesliga 2 campaign, the Berliners would overtake Nuremberg and Wolfsburg as the only team with a perfect tally of 12 points, and therefore would sit atop the league table. Incidentally, the last time Hertha sat at the very top of Bundesliga 2 was all the way back in May 2013, when they celebrated promotion as champions.
