"We're happy that the season is starting back up again. We have a difficult match ahead of us, but we've worked hard and prepared as best we can. We'll look to get the basics right. Braunschweig won two friendlies in the winter break, and they also put in good performance against St. Pauli, in their last one. There are dangers waiting for us, if we're not careful, so we need to be alert and ready to go."

Schalke forward Kenan Karaman has scored three goals in his last two matches against Braunschweig.

Braunschweig have lost only one of their four previous home matches against Schalke in the Bundesliga 2, a 1-0 defeat back in February 1991.
