Full-time: Eintracht 1-1 Wolfsburg

A breathless ending to a game that had started slowly but burst into life after the break. Wolfsburg hit the front through a Tuta own-goal not long after the restart but Eintracht rallied and earned a deserved share of the spoils thanks to substitute Can Uzun's equaliser.

After a helter-skelter start, this game has settled into a midfield battle, meaning there is little for the fans to get too excited about at this point. Collins wins Eintracht a corner, which comes to nothing.

Day of Remembrance in German Football

80 years ago, on January 27, 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated. German football has been commemorating this event and the people who were persecuted, deported and murdered by the National Socialists on match days in and around around January 27th.

Here they come!

Both sides make their way out onto the turf on a bright winter's day in Frankfurt. Conditions are perfect for football and we're all set to go.

Awaiting teams

The home scarves are raised as Eintracht's anthem belts out around the Deutsche Bank Park. All that's left is for the teams to take to the field.
camera-photo

Danish feel

There are six Danes among today's match squads, and three will start this game, namely Eintracht's Oscar Højlund and Joakim Maehle and Jonas Wind of Wolfsburg. Frankfurt's Rasmus Kristensen and the Wolves' winter signings Mads Roerslev and Andreas Skov Olsen are among the day's subs.
camera-photo

More on those teams

After the 2-0 defeat in the Europa League at AS Roma, Dino Toppmöller makes four changes to his starting XI, with Brown, Collins, Götze and Höjlund replacing Kristensen, Bahoya, Larsson and Chaibi, who all take a place on the bench. New Eagles' signing Elye Wahi plays no part today. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, are unchanged from last week's 2-2 draw against Holstein Kiel.

Ekitiké on fire

Frankfurt may stil be waiting for Omar Marmoush's replacement Elye Wahi to make his debut for the Eagles but in the meantime they can rely on another Frenchman - the sensational Hugo Ekitiké, who has scored four goals in the last three Bundesliga matches!

The Wolves can dish it out, but...

Wolfsburg also underlined their strength from set-pieces in the last game against Kiel, scoring from a corner for the sixth time this season – the highest number in the league. However, the Wolves are also vulnerable from opposition corners, having conceded eight goals in a row from corners at home. Wolfsburg have only conceded more gosals from corners once, back in the 2009-10 season (nine).
camera-photo

Young guns

Frankfurt (average age of players fielded: 24.8) and Wolfsburg (25.7) both boast youthful squads, with the Eagles actually the youngest in the Bundesliga this season.

Referee announcements in the stadium

Further transparency when it comes to refereeing decisions - with this goal in mind, a pilot project for announcing referee decisions in the stadium will be launched for both the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 on Matchday 20. The trial includes today clash between Bayern and Kiel.
camera-photo

Wolfsburg goals (almost) guaranteed

The Wolves have not gone a whole game without scoring against Frankfurt in the last 24 games – they currently have a longer unbeaten streak against no other Bundesliga team. Which should suit Jonas Wind, the Wolves' top scorer with eight goals (plus three assists), who has scored five times in his last seven Bundesliga games and is currently combining well with Mohamed Amoura.

Masters of the quick counter

Only Eintracht Frankfurt have been more successful this season in converting counter-attacks (nine times) than Wolfsburg (six times).

And scoring goals!

After 19 matches, the Wolves have already scored more goals (42) than in the entirety of last season (41).
camera-photo

Wolves hunting far from home

Wolfsburg are one of the best away teams in the Bundesliga this season, with 16 points clinched on the road. The Wolves have already surpassed their away haul of 15 points from last season.
camera-photo

The Eagles soaring

Even though Hoffenheim's injury-time equaliser was a blow for Eintracht, third-placed Frankfurt are on a run of four Bundesliga games without defeat (three wins, one draw).

Dino Toppmöller on facing Wolfsburg

"Wolfsburg are a very tough opponent with a lot of quality. VfL have stabilised a lot - at the beginning of the season they weren't getting the results they wanted. Wolfsburg are doing a very good job. They have almost everything in their repertoire. We want to throw everything into it, spurred on by our fans."
camera-photo

Ralph Hasenhüttl on facing Frankfurt

"Not so many teams have taken points away at Frankfurt. But we also know that we haven't done so badly away from home this season. We're not a comfortable side to play against for any home team."
