Robust at the back, disciplined in midfield and with the pace and trickery of Luis Díaz in attack, Los Cafeteros were excellent and could be on for a deep run at this tournament. Díaz and Colombia eye last 16

Bayern Munich's Luis Díaz is expected to start this round of 32 tie after netting in Colombia's World Cup opener against Uzbekistan. One man trying to stop him from scoring again will be Wolfsburg defender Jonas Adjetey, who played in all three of the Black Stars' group games.

Head-to-head record

Colombia and Ghana are facing each other for the first time in Kansas City. However, the Black Stars have been knocked out by South American sides in three of their four previous tournament appearances, losing to Brazil in the 2006 round of 16, Uruguay in the 2010 quarter-finals, and Uruguay again in their final group game in 2022.

How they got here: Ghana

Four points from their opening two matches - against Panama (1-0) and England (0-0) - helped earn Ghana a place in the round of 32 with a game to spare. A point against Croatia would have sent them through as Group L runners-up, but the Black Stars finished third after losing 2-1 to the 2018 finalists in Philadelphia.

Luis Díaz was on target as Colombia began their Group K campaign with a 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan, before a 1-0 win against DR Congo confirmed their place in the round of 32. A goalless draw with Portugal ensured they advanced as group winners.
