Super-strikers

All eyes in Miami will be on the respective strikers as Erling Haaland and Harry Kane look to take their nation into the semi-finals. The latter has sent Bundesliga records tumbling during his time at Bayern Munich with 98 goals in only 94 appearances, including the fastest player ever to 50 goals. He did that from only 43 games, breaking Haaland's record of 50 in 50 from his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Head-to-head record

These two nations haven't met since Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game from a penalty in a September 2014 friendly. John Stones, Jordan Henderson and Ørjan Nyland are the three survivors from that game. England have won seven out of 12 encounters (D3, L2), but Norway's two wins came in the four competitive meetings in qualifiers for the 1982 and 1994 World Cups.

How they got here: England

The Three Lions topped Group L with two wins and a draw before coming from behind to beat DR Congo thanks to Harry Kane's second-half double in the round of 32. The Bayern Munich striker then got England's third from the spot after Jude Bellingham's brace as they beat co-hosts Mexico 3-2 at the Estadio Azteca.

How they got here: Norway

Second in Group I behind France after wins over Iraq and Senegal, Norway then saw off Ivory Coast in the last 32 before dumping out five-time winners Brazil in the round of 16 thanks to Erling Haaland's brace in a 2-1 victory, taking the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker up to seven goals for the tournament in four appearances.
