Díaz stars on debut

Luis Díaz marked his World Cup debut with a superb display in Colombia's 3-1 win over Uzbekistan. The Bayern Munich man hit the post at the Estadio Azteca before producing a sublime assist for Daniel Muñoz. Fabio Cannavaro's tournament newcomers levelled on the hour through Abbosbek Fayzullaev, but Díaz responded quickly with his first World Cup goal. Jaminton Campaz then added a third deep into added time as Los Cafeteros take control of Group K, ahead of Portugal and DR Congo.

Díaz's World Cup bow

With 74 caps for Colombia to his name so far, this will be the Bayern winger's first appearance at a World Cup finals. He missed the 2022 tournament in Qatar through injury and the 2018 edition came around when he was still making his way in Colombian football with Junior FC.

Luis Díaz looking to hit the ground running

Having been a key part of Bayern's Bundesliga success this season the wing wizard will look to bring his goalscoring form onto the world stage. Colombia won both of their warm up friendlies against Costa Rica (3-1) and Jordan (2-0), with Díaz notching a goal and an assist against Costa Rica.
