89'

Two more subs

Hafez and Adel are on for Egypt.
87'

Lukaku should do better

Raskin whips a perfect cross into the box that Lukaku meets with his head. However, Belgium's all-time top scorer gets far too much on his shot and heads well over the bar from a great position.
86'

More Belgian changes

And it is two big names that are leaving the field, as Doku and De Bruyne are replaced by Fernandez-Pardo and Vanaken.
83'

Big save

De Bruyne's initial free-kick is cleared, but Tielemans sends the ball back into the box. Mechele meets the delivery with a firm header, but Shobeir reacts well to make the save.
78'

Charged down

Belgium continue to threaten as De Bruyne picks out Trossard between the lines. The Arsenal man then feeds Lukaku on the edge of the box, but his effort is well blocked.
76'

Double change

Zizo and Abdelkarim are on for Ziko and Salah. Perhaps something of a surprise to see Salah leave the pitch, but Abdelkarim is on the verge of joining Barcelona's youth team permanently.
76'

Substitution

75'

Sloppy

De Cuyper loses the ball cheaply to Ziko and then pulls his man to the ground to earn himself a booking.
73'

Lovely football

Meunier and Trossard combine neatly down the right as the Arsenal man feeds Meunier in the box with a gorgeous backheel. Meunier then gets a shot away, but he can only fire at the goalkeeper.
71'

An Egyptian change

Rabia is on for the goalscorer Ashour.

Belgium are level

Lukaku has only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds, and he has already forced the equaliser. Meunier fires in a low cross that Lukaku launches himself towards, causing Hany to poke into his own net in the process.

That could have gone anywhere

Salah sends a wonderful ball over the top to Marmoush. He uses his teammate's run as a decoy and cuts inside to shoot with his right. The shot hits Ngoy and wrongfoots Courtois, but the Belgian goalkeeper is able to watch the ball bounce wide with some relief.
62'

Belgium could be level

First, Tielemans meets a clearance beautifully with his left on the volley, but the dipping effort drops just wide. Then, Meunier feeds De Bruyne inside the box; however, he can only fire at the goalkeeper from a great position.

56'

Double change

It's two changes for Belgium as De Cuyper and Raskin are on for Onana and Castagne.
55'

Egypt nearly have a second

Salah leaps highest to head towards goal, and Courtois is there initially, but the ball falls to Ashour. He has plenty of goal to aim at, but he drags his shot back across goal, and the chance is wasted.
53'

Off the post!

Doku wins a free-kick right on the edge of the box, and De Bruyne steps up to take it. He whips the free-kick over the wall, only to see his shot bounce away off the left upright.
48'

Big opportunity

Egypt sweep forward down the left, and a low cross lands at the feet of Ziko in the box, but he mishits his shot. Marmoush then has a swipe, but his effort is blocked, and Belgium clear.

Half-time: Belgium 0-1 Egypt

Egypt go in at half-time with the lead, and they have been good value for it. Belgium have perhaps had more of the ball, but Egypt have looked dangerous on the break. Ashour's goal is the difference at the break.

Dangerous

An Egyptian corner comes off the head of De Ketelaere, and Courtois is in no man's land. Luckily for him, there are no Egyptian players at the back post to sweep home.

A long throw into the box is flicked on and then laid off by De Ketelaere for Doku. He swings at the bouncing ball, but doesn't get his shot right, and the effort misses the target. That was a good chance.

Trossard again

Trossard now has space to shoot with his left from the edge of the box, but this time his shot is blocked.
38'

A half-chance

Belgium stretch the Egyptian defence with some good passing and a cross that finds Doku at the back post. He sets the ball for Trossard in the box, but he mishits his shot and Egypt survive.
34'

Fatouh in the book

Fatouh catches the advancing Doku late and picks up a yellow card for his troubles.
33'

Good strike

Egypt work the ball forward neatly again, and Ziko has the opportunity to shoot. He drives an effort towards the far corner from the right, but Courtois does well to tip the ball behind for a corner.
31'

That could have been dangerous

Castagne cuts inside from the left and whips a cross into the box. Tielemans gets his head to the delivery, but his flick rolls well wide of the goal.
28'

Good composure

Belgium get forward down the left, and goalscorer Ashour has to be alert to the danger. He picks a cross out of the air and wins his side a free-kick in his own box with some neat footwork.
23'

Drinks break

There's a short stoppage in play as the players take the opportunity to rehydrate.

Ashour fires Egypt in front!

Doku is beaten to the ball on halfway, and Egypt work the ball forward neatly down the right. Salah is then able to switch the play with a pass across to Ashour, who has space. How they warmed up: Belgium

Belgium's final two warm-up games were near-perfect. First, they dispatched Croatia 2-0, then they thrashed Tunisia 5-0. Former Bundesliga players Kevin De Bruyne and Dodi Lukébakio were among those to score against Tunisia, and Frankfurt's Theate played 90 minutes against Croatia.

How they warmed up: Egypt

Egypt have played two friendlies in preparation for this tournament. They beat Russia 1-0 in the first, but lost 2-1 to Brazil on the 6th. Both of Egypt's goals were scored by Mostafa Ziko. The 29-year-old plays club football for Pyramids in his native Egypt.

How they got here: Belgium

Like Egypt, Belgium also got through their qualifying campaign unbeaten. Finishing two points clear of Wales and five clear of North Macedonia, only Norway (37 goals) scored more than Belgium's 29 strikes as the Red Devils secured five wins and three draws.

How they got here: Egypt

Hossam Hassan's Egypt got through their qualifying group unscathed, going the campaign unbeaten with eight wins and two draws, plundering 20 goals - of which Mohamed Salah struck nine - and allowing only two in the process as they finished five points clear of Burkina Faso.

Eyeing his first game

Arthur Theate - the Bundesliga's sole participant between the two nations - was an unused substitute at the FIFA World Cup 2022, and so the Eintracht Frankfurt defender will be looking to make his debut on the international stage in North America.
