What's at stake?

Despite DR Congo's draw with Portugal spelling the only point for either of these sides, qualification for the Round of 32 is not mathematically impossible for either nation. In theory, DR Congo could still leapfrog Portugal into second place by defeating Uzbekistan, though they would have to make up a goal difference of +6 on Roberto Martínez's men. Similarly, should the Central Asian nation win, they could progress via the third-place coefficient, but with a current goal difference of -7, an emphatic victory would be needed. A draw is very unlikely to be enough for either side to advance.
