Haaland arrives on biggest stage

Erling Haaland scored a first-half double on his World Cup debut as Norway marked their return to the tournament for the first time in 28 years with a 4-1 win over Iraq in Boston. The Asian nation had equalised in between the ex-Borussia Dortmund striker's two goals, before former Hoffenheim defender Leo Østigård added a third and a late own goal rounded off Norway's victory to go level with France on three points in Group I. Julian Ryerson (Dortmund) and Antonio Nusa (RB Leipzig) both started for the Scandinavians.

Iraq sealed their first World Cup qualification since 1986 in dramatic fashion - going through three rounds of Asian qualifying to make an intercontinental play-off, in which they beat Bolivia 2-1 in Mexico in March to secure their spot.

The short answer - in quite some style! Norway rattled off as many as 37 goals as they won Group I of European qualifying with a 100 percent record. Erling Haaland was the runaway top scorer among all teams, with 16 goals.
