Naby Keita will not join Liverpool in the January transfer window, with current club RB Leipzig moving to end speculation surrounding the short-term future of the Guinea midfielder.

Keita is set to join Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the summer, and there had been conjecture in recent weeks that the English Premier League side would pay more to bring the midfielder to Anfield six months ahead of schedule, especially after losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

Following Keita’s goalscoring performance in Leipzig’s 3-1 win over Schalke on Saturday, RBL’s sporting director Ralf Rangnick has moved to dismiss the rumours, saying “we won’t allow Liverpool to sign him early, even though they have shown renewed interest to bring him in during this transfer window.”

Keita has three goals and one assist to his name in the Bundesliga this season, with his match-winning performances helping his side into second place behind Bayern Munich after 18 games played.
