Goalscorer in Bayern Munich’s 1-0 win against Darmstadt on Matchday 32, Juan Bernat has vowed that the Bavarians will aim to build on winning the Bundesliga title this campaign and “try to win it all next season”.
Speaking in the mixed zone following the hard-fought win against the Lilies, who were relegated from the Bundesliga, Bernat, whose goal was his second of the season, struck a bullish tone when asked to assess Bayern’s campaign.
“It’s been a good season - it’s always good to win the Bundesliga - but what happened in the Champions League in Madrid [against Real Madrid] has been and gone now,” he said. “We won the title, though, and now we’re focussing on next season. Sometimes luck plays a part over a season; we had some bad luck this season.”
“There are a couple of games left now, it’s up to us to win them and then it’ll be time to go on holiday and prepare for the new season,” said Bernat, who also expressed his delight at finding the net at the Allianz Arena for the first time ever.
“When I’ve played [this season] I’ve tried to give it my all,” Bernat said. “I’m in good shape, perhaps I’m lacking a little bit of rhythm, but I’m pleased to score, to be able to help the team and we’ll try to win it all next season.”
