Currently out injured, Schalke's USA star Weston McKennie has plenty of time to put his feet up and watch sport between rehabilitation sessions. That will certainly be the case on Sunday night when the Superbowl between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles enthralls millions in his homeland and worldwide - and the 19-year-old Texan has been offering a few tips ahead of the big game.

Speaking to Schalke's official Facebook account, McKennie, 19, admitted a preference for the Eagles' quarterback Nick Foles to the Patriots' Tom Brady, while also weighing in on whether he would make a better half-time performer than Justin Timberlake.

Prior to his suffering a knee ligament injury in a 1-1 draw against Hannover in January, McKennie was enjoying a fine breakthrough season in the Bundesliga and had made 14 top-flight appearances. The Little Elm native has been thriving under the stewardship of new coach Domenico Tedesco, who has utilised McKennie in central midfield and defence.

Currently flying high in the Bundesliga, Schalke sit fifth in the standings after a surprise last-gasp defeat to Werder Bremen on Matchday 21. The Royal Blues also have a DFB Cup quarter-final to look forward to next week when they travel to face Wolfsburg.
