Borussia Mönchengladbach's Laszlo Benes suffers metatarsal fracture
Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Laszlo Benes is set to be out of action for around three months after breaking a metatarsal in his left foot in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Dutch side VVV Venlo on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old - a summer 2016 signing from Slovakian outfit Zilina - was helped off in the 65th minute of the 5-1 win.
"It's a real blow for Laci, but it is for us, too, because it means another long-term absentee," lamented Gladbach assistant coach Dirk Bremser, after scans revealed the extent of the injury on Wednesday morning.
Benes, who made his ninth Bundesliga appearance to date as a substitute in the Matchday 2 draw with Augsburg, joins Tobias Strobl (knee), Ibrahima Traore (thigh) and Josip Drmic (knee) on the sidelines.
Gladbach take on 2016/17 Bundesliga runners-up RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday (kick-off: 18:30CEST/16:30GMT).
