Berlin - Hertha Berlin have made their first signing of the summer with the arrival of Mitchell Weiser from reigning Bundesliga champions FC Bayern München on a three-year contract valid until 30 June 2018.
'I'm looking forward to playing with the team'
The 21-year-old midfielder featured in 13 league matches for the Bavarians in 2014/15, starting eight games. He scored his maiden top-flight goal away to SC Paderborn on Matchday 22, and chipped in with a further four assists as Bayern sealed their 24th Bundesliga crown.
"Hertha made a lot of effort to sign me very early on and it's an exciting challenge for me to be here," Weiser told his new club's official website. "I had good conversations with sporting director Michael Preetz and head coach Pal Dardai and I'm looking forward to working here and playing with the team. With the fantastic Hertha fans behind us, I want to help us have a successful season."
Preetz confirmed the transfer on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, saying: "Done deal! Our first new signing, Mitchell Weiser, has signed on."
