Full-time: Bayer Leverkusen 0-2 Bayern Munich

Bayern beat Leverkusen to reach their first DFB Cup final since the 2019/20 season! Die Werkself gave it their all to try and comeback, but the Bundesliga champions were ultimately too strong. Kane's goal was all that separated the sides for the majority of the evening, before Díaz put the cherry on top in second-half stoppage time. The Bavarians will now face either Freiburg or holders Stuttgart in the final.

Díaz wraps things up!

Bayern are going to Berlin! Goretzka gets in behind the Leverkusen backline, where he squares it to Díaz, who finally gets the better of Flekken, as he chips the Dutch keeper to seal Bayern's place in the final. It was initially disallowed for offside, but a VAR review confirmed that no infringement had occured.

Flekken comes up trumps once again

Stoppage time

Three additional minutes have been indicated. Can Leverkusen find something in the dying embers here?

In from García

Davies concedes a foul around 35 yards from his own goal. García steps up to take the free-kick, floating in a cross, but his teasing ball in finds no takers in the middle.
85'

Further changes

Both managers make substitutions late on here. Kompany opts for a defensive change, introducing Kim for Musiala as he tries to help his side see this win over the line. By contrast, Hjulmand introduces the attack-minded Tillman for defender Andrich.
83'

Slipped

Culbreath puts a cross in from the right. It's aimed towards Schick in the middle, but Leverkusen's No.14 slips before he can get a shot away.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
The xG values indicate that Bayern are unfortunate not to be more than one-goal ahead. For this reason, Leverkusen may increasingly feel they can get a late goal here, whilst Bayern continue to squander their chances.

Appeals for handball

Grimaldo chips a cross in for Schick, but the Czech forward loses out in the aerial duel to Tah. The centre-back's header then strikes the arm of Goretzka in the Bayern box, but he's correctly deemed to have had his arm in a natural position when it hit him.
77'

Another change

Kasper Hjulmand looks to the bench again, introducing the youngster Culbreath for Tella as he looks to inject fresh energy in the game's late stages.
76'

Grimaldo booked

The Spaniard is cautioned for dissent.

75'

Instinctive effort

Díaz pounces on a stray touch from former Liverpool teammate Quansah. All alone, he lashes a shot goalwards from just inside the Leverkusen box, forcing Flekken to tip it over the bar.
74'

Double change

Kompany makes his first substitutions of the evening, introducing Davies and Goretzka for Laimer and Pavlović.
71'

Narrowly over

Quansah chips a cross into the Bayern penalty area. Schick gets to the header in front of Upamecano, but can only send it flying just over the bar.
69'

Into the ground

Leverkusen fashion another counter, and again it's Tella who manages to get his shot away. However, the winger fires the effort on the half-volley into the ground, which takes all of the speed out of the attempt and makes for an easy save for Neuer.
68'

Wide of the mark

Stanišić lets fly from just over 20 yards in the right half-space. However, he drags his shot wide of the left post.
camera-photo

Kane foiled by Flekken

So close to a second for Bayern! Kane receives the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box. He nutmegs Quansah before aiming a low shot towards the bottom right corner, but Flekken pulls off a stunning save to deny the No.9 his second of the evening.
61'

Floated in

On the other side, Díaz curls a right-footed cross into the box, where Kane and Upamecano are waiting to receive it. It's the latter who gets there, but a Leverkusen defender makes a crucial intervention before the Frenchman can get a shot away.
60'

Olise takes

The Frenchman curls a corner in from the right, but Flekken rushes off his line to punch it clear.
58'

Stanišić receives treatment

The Croatian defender had been cleaned out by Poku in the aftermath of his shot, staying down after the contact. He's back to his feet now, though, and seems set to continue.
56'

Almost a second!

Spearheading a Bayern attack, Musiala slips the ball right to Stanišić, who had got himself very high up the pitch, to strike the ball first time. His effort forces a great save out of Flekken, who keeps the scoreline at 1-0.

Better from Leverkusen

The hosts have already registered more shots in the start of the second half than they managed in the entirety of the first.

Tella forces the save

Grimaldo gets high up the right flank. There, he cuts it back to Tella on the edge of the area, who puts his laces right through the ball. His shot looks to be flying in at the far post but for an unbelievable save from Neuer, who gets his fingertips to it and concedes the corner.
50'

Off the line!

Olise plays an incisive pass to the byline for Musiala. The No.10 simply lifts the ball over the onrushing Flekken, but Andrich is there to heroically clear it off the line for his side.
48'

Can't bring it down

A ball is played over the top of the Bayern backline for Schick to chase. The Czech forward brings the ball down superbly with his first touch before being dispossessed by former teammate Tah.

Half-time: Bayer Leverkusen 0-1 Bayern Munich

At the interval, it's the Bundesliga champions who lead in Leverkusen. Bayern have been dominant in the first half and have managed to convert their dominance into numerical advantage courtesy of top scorer Harry Kane. After conceding, Leverkusen stabilised somewhat, but Kasper Hjulmand's side remain without a shot on goal so far. Die Werkself will need to offer more going forward in the second half if they're to have a hope of reaching the final.

Boiling over

There's a stoppage after a coming together between Olise and Palacios sees tempers flare. The referee opts to keep his cards in his pocket, however, seeing a verbal caution for both players to be an adequate admonishment.
44'

Pavlović booked

It's the Bayern midfielder's turn to see yellow, this time for a late challenge on Maza, which prevents a Leverkusen counter-attack.

41'

Blazed over

39'

Early change

Hjulmand opts to make his first substitution shortly before the break, introducing Poku for Vázquez in what seems to be a tactical change, as Poku has gone to the left wing and has swapped with Tella.

30'

29'

Miscontrolled

A teasing cross is fired in from the right towards Schick. The Czech striker tries to spin his marker, but fails to bring the cross down in the process.

Leverkusen have to change something

The shot counter reflects an unfortunate truth for Leverkusen: it's been all Bayern so far.

Kane gets the go-ahead goal!

Bayern lead in the semi-final and it's that man Kane with the opener! Musiala breaks through down the right flank before playing a low cross towards Díaz. The Colombian can't connect with the ball, allowing it to roll behind him where Kane was lurking to smash it past Flekken at the far post. That's the Englishman's seventh goal in the DFB Cup this season, having now scored in all five stages of the competition.

Laimer gets clear

Díaz drills a pass into the feet of Kane, who spots a run in behind by Laimer. With one touch, he releases the Austrian, who rides a challenge from Tapsoba before being closed down by Flekken. Had he scored, it wouldn't have stood, however, as he was offside when receiving the ball from Kane.
camera-photo

Díaz looking sharp

The Colombian has been lively so far as well as being the closest of any player to breaking the deadlock here.
18'

Flekken intervenes again

Kane is sent in behind and finds himself in a one-on-one with the Leverkusen keeper, who stands tall to beat the Englishman's attempted chip behind for another corner.
16'

Instinctive effort

Musiala is dispossessed inside the Leverkusen penalty area but Díaz is there to strike the loose ball, doing so with real venom. It's a curling effort aimed towards the bottom right corner, taking a deflection on its way through, but Flekken does excellently to get down and across to tip the ball round the post. Bayern don't make anything of the resultant corner, however.
15'

Bayern seizing control

The possession stats inside the opening 15 minutes are very telling. Bayern are looking to suffocate the Leverkusen defence, whilst the hosts are resorting to hurting the Bavarians on the counter.

First Leverkusen corner

Die Werkself reveal their game plan in a quick counter-attack. Maza drives his side up the pitch before laying it out wide to Tella, whose cross is deflected behind for a corner. Grimaldo takes, but Leverkusen can't fashion a chance, as the referee blows his whistle for a foul on Neuer by Maza.
camera-photo

Good battling

Laimer and Vázquez have already been involved in some physical exchanges in the early stages here.
6'

First corner

Bayern work a set-piece routine nicely. Kimmich takes a short one from the left, finding Olise, who turns and picks out an unmarked Upamecano at the penalty spot. The French defender's left-footed effort flies over the bar, though. That was a real chance for Bayern!
5'

In by Díaz

The Colombian winger curls a right-footed cross in from the left. He finds the head of Musiala, but the No.10's effort is blocked.

The team is ready for the game and will give everything. The players play for the fans and the club, and they’ll do everything to reach Berlin (...) Bayern are one of the best teams in the world. “I believe tomorrow is the eighth clash in two years against Leverkusen. They’ve had two different coaches, but we know the players well and understand exactly what to expect. In the last match, we saw for ourselves which emotions you need to show, and which are better left at home. But it's always a big battle. So, we’re not expecting anything different this time either.”
