Vincent Kompany on meeting Real Madrid in the quarter-finals

"It's not important who's the better team right now. The history of both clubs, the talent on the pitch, that's special. We expect an absolute top game. I hope even the neutrals will enjoy it. And of course in the end we want to win and advance"
camera-photo

Harry Kane on tonight's win and facing Real Madrid

"With such a lead from the first leg, it's easy to be complacent but we said that we wanted to win with the same style as the first leg. Whenever you face Real Madrid in the Champions League, you expect a fight. But we'll be ready. We don't fear anyone, even though it's going to be tough".

Half-time: Bayern Munich 1-0 Atalanta

Apart from a late scare, Bayern have eased their way closer to a quarter-final place, going a goal up via a Kane penalty to take the aggregate score to 7-1. They were in control for all but a couple of moments in the first 45, with Atalanta having to weather waves of attacks.
45'

Atalanta go close!

A cross toward the back post is headed back across goal where Pašalić looks destined to convert from close range, but Urbig does brilliantly to get across and block the effort.
44'

Cruise control

Bayern are passing it around with ease as the half draws to a close.

He tries to bend one in from range first time, but can't control his finish.

Pavlović from range

He fires in an effort from just outside the right-hand side of the box toward the far top corner and Sportiello parries it clear.

More on that Bayern team

The hosts also make six changes, with Upamecano, Laimer, Kimmich, Olise, Gnabry and Jackson being replaced by Kim, Bischof, Goretzka, Karl, Guerreiro and Kane (pictured), who will also captain the side tonight, all in the starting XI.

Watch: More from Kompany on Bayern's preparations

camera-photo

Atalanta team news

The visitors do not have significant new injuries, with Giacomo Raspadori the only enforced absentee due to a thigh issue, while Yunus Musah is suspended after his booking in last week’s reverse fixture. Nikola Krstović is expected to lead the line for Atalanta ahead of Gianluca Scamacca.
camera-photo

Bayern team news

Despite all of the talk surrounding 16-year-old Leonard Prescott this week, Jonas Urbig is expected to be fit enough to play in goal against Atalanta. However, the hosts will definitely be without star duo Michael Olise and Joshua Kimmich, who are suspended for the tie. Harry Kane, meanwhile, may be among the substitutes as he attempts to regain full fitness.

Isak Hien on facing Bayern

"I'm expecting a tough [match], definitely. We'll need to be at our best to get a good result. But we've got a strong squad, and we've shown this season that we've got both the quality and the mentality. I'm sure we'll give everything."
camera-photo

Raffaele Palladino on facing Bayern

"Recovering five goals is always a mountain to climb. But I want a match worthy of this club and this occasion. We are proud to be the last Italian side standing in the Champions League, and we will fight until the very end."
camera-photo

Tom Bischof on positional versatility

"I'm not that experienced, but I've played at left-back quite a few times now," commented the Bayern youngster, who could deputise for the injured Alphonso Davies on Wednesday. "I had to adapt there and now I feel comfortable there as well. I've played twice on the right before. I can cut inside a lot there and go for a goal, influence the game in a different way. But I feel very comfortable in all three positions. I'll help where I'm needed. I'm gradually getting comfortable [at left-back], but I'm happiest when I'm in the holding midfield role."
camera-photo

Kompany on facing Atalanta

"It's difficult to gauge how they'll approach it. Only the opposition coach can answer that. After our match they had a very tough game at Inter [Milan] and got a very good result. They were solid and dangerous, and uncomfortable for Inter. It was less typical of them against us - they're not a team who concede a lot of goals. We'll be prepared for everything. We can't afford to go into a game too casually, we don't want that."

Kompany backs Prescott

Should Urbig miss out, 16-year-old Leonard Prescott could make history as the youngest goalkeeper to play in the Champions League. "If he has to play, he gets our full support and backing," Kompany explained. "We have plenty of good players who will help him out. And there will never be a young player here who is given a starring role. No matter what happens: we have complete confidence in him!"
camera-photo

Urbig expected to start

"If everything goes to plan, [Jonas] Urbig will be in goal," Kompany said at Tuesday's presser. "And if not, we'll find another solution – and that's exactly what we’ll do." The Belgian also revealed that No.1 Manuel Neuer is nearing a return from a calf injury. "I'm not surprised he's back already, but I'm happy."
camera-photo

Urbig back in action

Jonas Urbig had sufficiently recovered from a concussion to take part in some of Bayern's training session on Monday. While he remains a doubt for the match, that provides a glimmer of hope in Bayern's goalkeeping crisis.
camera-photo

Harry's haul

While Harry Kane was an unused substitute in the first leg, he might fancy his chances of a goal or two in the return encounter. The Englishman is the third-highest scorer in this season's UEFA Champions League with eight goals. He is also just two goals shy of joining only ten players to have hit 50 goals in the competition's history.
camera-photo

Atalanta out of form

A late goal from substitute Nikola Krstović earned Atalanta a 1-1 draw at Serie A leaders Inter Milan on Saturday. Not a bad result for the seventh-placed side, but it did extend their run without a win to five matches in all competitions.
camera-photo

Prescott's turn?

The New York City-born Germany U17 international was the goalkeeper on the bench at the weekend, with Ulreich starting his first game in over a year. Born 23 September 2009, he would become the second-youngest player in Bayern's history if he features and the youngest goalkeeper ever in the Champions League.
camera-photo

Who's available? (Pt.2)

Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies are both out after going off in the second half of the first leg. But the big issue is in goal, where Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich have both picked up muscular injuries. Jonas Urbig (pictured) missed the Leverkusen game with concussion he suffered in Bergamo, and it's not known if he'll be back for Wednesday. Leon Klanac - the fourth first-team goalkeeper - also has a hamstring issue, leaving Jannis Bärtl (19) and Leonard Prescott (16) from the reserves and U19s as the next available goalkeepers in Munich.
camera-photo

Who's available? (Pt.1)

In terms of suspensions, Bayern will play this second leg without Joshua Kimmich and Michael Olise after they got their third yellow card of the competition in the first leg. Luis Díaz, Nicolas Jackson (red cards) and Jonathan Tah (fifth yellow) are available as their suspensions following the weekend's game in Leverkusen are only for domestic fixtures.

Watch: Bayer Leverkusen 1-1 Bayern Munich - highlights

Bayern Munich salvaged a point against Bayer Leverkusen despite going down to ten men in the first half, before being reduced to nine late on. 'Keeper Sven Ulreich also picked up an injury against the Werkself, meaning it remains to be seen who will start in between the sticks in this second-leg.

Kane wins February Player of the Month

Bayern's English goal machine was voted the Bundesliga's Player of the Month for February after scoring eight goals, which came as four consecutive league braces - a feat only previously achieved by two other players in history. Those eight goals took his tally up to 30 for the campaign, leaving Kane hot on the heels of Lewandowski's record for most goals in a single Bundesliga season (41).
camera-photo

High praise from the gaffer for Olise

The Frenchman was one of the standout performers against Atalanta, striking twice - including once from 25 yards - to take his UCL tally up to three goals for the campaign. After the game, Kompany likened Olise to his former teammate and ex-Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne, saying: "He's very detail-oriented in his work, that's what sets him apart. That was also true of De Bruyne, whom I watched at Manchester City on his way to becoming world-class. Michael can become one of the best attacking players ever. He's on a very good path."
camera-photo

Atalanta head coach Raffaele Palladino's take

“We’re annoyed, this isn’t what we wanted. We played against perhaps the best team in the world. Congratulations to them and their coach, they impressed me. We have to accept the result. We’re sorry to the fans.”
camera-photo

Joshua Kimmich's thoughts

“We needed about five minutes to get going. After that we had one big chance after the other. That was a very strong performance today. The manner of it was impressive. We knew that we could really hurt them, and we also knew there’d be a top atmosphere here [...] Nevertheless, it was just a successful night’s work for us. Obviously it’s only the first leg. We knew at half-time that 3-0 was already a decent scoreline, but we still wanted to increase it. We succeeded in that."
camera-photo

Vincent Kompany's reaction to the first leg

“That was the performance we hoped for. I’d even say we could’ve scored another goal or two. I think we were very dangerous in attack all game. It was a good mixture: playing the ball simply into feet at times, but also running in behind at times. That hurt them."
camera-photo

Advantage Bayern

The Bavarians sit comfortably atop a five-goal aggregate lead after thrashing Atalanta 6-1 in the first leg in Bergamo on 10 March. Stanišić, Gnabry, Jackson and Musiala all got themselves on the scoresheet, whilst Michael Olise netted a brace to all but assure Bayern's place in the quarter-finals, barring a second-leg calamity at the Allianz Arena.
