Bundesliga 2020/21: Top 5 games of the season!

It has been another fantastic Bundesliga season in 2020/21, filled with drama, excitement and last-minute goals. 928 goals were scored in the 306 games played, and bundesliga.com have picked out the five games you simply have to watch again.

Matchday 10: Bayern Munich 3-3 RB Leipzig
Goals: 0-1
Nkunku (19'), 1-1 Musiala (30'), 2-1 Müller (34'), 2-2 Kluivert (36'), 2-3 Forsberg (48'), 3-3 Müller (75')

It was just 10 games into the season when title-chasing Bayern and Leipzig clashed for the first time. Bayern went into the match just two points ahead of their visitors at the league summit, and what followed between the top two did not disappoint. Three lead changes, a Thomas Müller brace and a hat-trick of assists for Kingsley Coman - this one really had it all!

Matchday 7: Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Bayern Munich
Goals: 1-0 Reus (45'), 1-1 Alaba (45'+4), 1-2 Lewandowski (48'), 1-3 Sane (80'), 2-3 Haaland (83')

Der Klassiker remains the biggest game of the Bundesliga calendar when giants Dortmund and Bayern collide, and it was no different when we were treated to the first tussle between these sides just seven games into the 2020/21 season. The two went into the encounter level on points atop the table, but crucial second half goals proved too much for Die Schwarzgelben to overcome as Bayern prevailed.

Matchday 15: Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 Bayern Munich
Goals: 0-1 Lewandowski (pen. 20'), 0-2 Goretzka (26'), 1-2 Hofmann (36'), 2-2 Hofmann (45'), 3-2 Neuhaus (48')

Games between the Foals and Bayern - especially at Borussia-Park - have been simply unmissable in recent years, and the goods were supplied once again this season just before the winter break. Florian Neuhaus gave away a penalty and then scored the winner, while Jonas Hofmann and Lars Stindl also starred as Gladbach came from 2-0 down to beat Bayern in a five-goal thriller.

Matchday 9: Wolfsburg 5-3 Werder Bremen
Goals: 0-1 Bittencourt (13'), 1-1 Baku (22'), 2-1 Brooks (25'), 2-2 Möhwald (36'), 3-2 Weghorst (37'), 3-3 Brooks (o.g. 47'), 4-3 Weghorst (76'), 5-3 Bialek (90'+4)
Red card: Möhwald (80')

The highest-scoring game of the 2020/21 season came on Matchday 9 when Wolfsburg hosted Bremen, with five goals in the first half and three more in the second - as well as a late red card for Kevin Möhwald - as Wolfsburg took the points in an eight-goal bonanza at the Volkswagen Arena.

Matchday 28: Cologne 2-3 Mainz
Goals: 0-1 Boetius (11'), 1-1 Duda (pen 43'), 2-1 Skhiri (61'), 2-2 Onisiwo (65'), 2-3 Barreiro (90'+2)

When survival is on the line, drama is sure to follow, and that was certainly the case when Cologne hosted Mainz with just seven rounds of fixtures to go. Just two points separated the two sides just above the automatic relegation places and, in the end, after exchanging goals through the 90 minutes, a late, late strike from Leandro Barreiro ultimately earned Mainz a stunning win that helped lead them towards safety in 2020/21.
