
Refereeing team and innovative technology in place for Franz Beckenbauer Supercup
Match referee Harm Osmers will take charge of the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich on Saturday (kick-off: 8.30pm CET).
Osmers will be supported by linesmen Dominik Schaal and Christian Gittelmann, fourth official Tom Bauer, video assistant referee Sascha Stegemann and assistant video assistant Frederick Assmuth.
The traditional season-opening fixture between DFB Cup holders Stuttgart and reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern will feature the innovative RefCam, allowing viewers to gain a unique, eye-level perspective on the action, in addition to semi-automatic offside detection technology and in-stadium refereeing announcements.

Referees explaining VAR decisions to fans in stadiums, addressing the crowd in real time, will also be rolled out in the Bundesliga, when the 2025/26 season gets under way on 22 August. It has already been introduced in Bundesliga 2.
