St. Pauli midfielder James Sands has been ruled out for the rest of the 2025/26 season with an ankle injury.
Sands hurt his left ankle in the goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 25, with subsequent tests revealing that the injury required surgery.
The operation will take place in Munich on Friday, after which Sands will commence his recovery programme.
The 25-year-old has made 28 appearances for St. Pauli in the Bundesliga and DFB Cup this term, scoring his only goal of the campaign in a 3-2 defeat at Borussia Dortmund on Matchday 18.
