As Dortmund secured their place in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, where they'll face Mexican side Monterrey, Kehl was busy dealing with the team's personnel situation.

Following their win over Ulsan HD, Kehl faced questions on the futures on Jamie Gittens, Carney Chukwuemeka and Youssoufa Moukoko.

Gittens missed the game against the South Korean side due to illness. Kehl first gave the all-clear on the Englishman's health, saying "He's already feeling better," before addressing the rumors of a possible departure surrounding the winger.

"It's normal that the topics came up yesterday and caused a stir in the media. Nevertheless, there's no news about Jamie yet. I'm in talks there, too. Everyone will have to wait and see how things develop in the next few days. I can't say anything at the moment." Gittens is under contract with at Dortmund until 30 June 2028.

BVB's sporting director was also asked about Chukwuemeka, whose loan deal at the club expires at the end of June. The 45-year-old couldn't confirm whether or not the win against Ulsan was his last game in a Dortmund jersey, however.

"I'll be having further discussions there as well," Kehl continued. "I can tell you that I've done my homework there, too, and that we've been in contact with Chelsea. We'd like to keep the player beyond 30 June. We won't play until July 1 and we're very confident we can make that happen."

Rumors have also been circulating recently about academy graduate Moukoko, who could leave Dortmund permanently.

When asked how confident he was that he would reach an agreement with Danish champions Copenhagen, Kehl responded: "I'm in talks, including with Youssoufa - that's true.

"In the last few days, there has been some movement in one or two personnel matters. Nevertheless, a few things still need to be clarified. As soon as these are resolved in the next few days, we will make an announcement. But we're not there yet."

Moukoko was loaned to Ligue 1 club Nice last season and is under contract with BVB until 30 June 2026.
