Sebastian Hoeneß taking it "day-by-day" with Angelo Stiller's fitness
Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß is hoping to have star midfielder Angelo Stiller ready in time for the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup match, with the VfB number six currently sidelined with an ankle injury.
Stiller, the Stuttgart number six, is one of the most important players for the Swabians ahead of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign. But even before that, the Germany international's fitness makes him a doubt for the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup game against Bayern Munich.
Speaking on Stiller's injury situation, Hoeneß said: "He's feeling better, the initial shock has been somewhat put into perspective."
The former Hoffenheim midfielder suffered a partial ankle ligament tear whilst in pre-season training and initial scans ruled him out of Stuttgart's friendly against Toulouse, which they won 6-0, and their upcoming friendly against Serie A side Bologna.

Stiller did not leave the training camp early though, which was a promising sign and Hoeneß has confirmed that the injury was not as bad as it seemed.
He said: "It's a minor issue with the ligaments, but not so much that we have to rule him out of the Supercup game."
The Stuttgart boss, however, is hesitant to confirm the Germany's international's availability for the game against Bayern.
"Nevertheless, it's going to be tight. We have to take it day by day," he said.
