Pascal Groß shines in Borussia Dortmund triumph
While Serhou Guirassy stole the headlines as Borussia Dortmund trounced Union Berlin 6-0, Pascal Groß also produced an unforgettable performance that saw him write his own piece of history...
It was one-way traffic at Signal Iduna Park as Dortmund breezed past Union on Saturday evening. The scorer of four goals, including a famed 'lupenreiner' hat-trick, Guirassy was unstoppable and only further showed why the Black-Yellows were desperate to sign him from VfB Stuttgart last summer.
However, the striker's display overshadowed a wonderful creative showing from Groß. The midfielder provided the assist for four of the strikes, including three of Guirassy's to take his season tally to seven - only Florian Wirtz and Omar Marmoush have managed more in the Bundesliga this term.
Creating four goals in one match is a rare occurrence. In fact, the last player to achieve that was Christopher Nkunku against Schalke for RB Leipzig five years ago to the day - all of those efforts came in the same half, too, which even Groß couldn't quite manage.
Watch: Kovač: “Four assists is not normal”

"World class. There's nothing more to say," head coach Niko Kovač said after the match. "Pascal set up four goals, that is not normal and it is not easy. Congratulations to him."
All in all, this was a fantastic result for Dortmund, especially after losing successive Bundesliga game. They are now back in contention for a European qualification spot and, following their progression to the UEFA Champions League last 16, it seems things are starting to come together for Kovač.
While Guirassy showed he can put the ball in the back of the net, his qualities are wasted if there isn't someone there to provide him with the service. On this occasion, Groß fulfilled his role to perfection.
