Key stats
Aseko's rise has been built on steady development rather than instant stardom. After joining Bayern from Hertha Berlin in 2022, the right-footed midfield anchor impressed at youth and reserve level, but found first-team opportunities limited – despite making several matchday squads.
A loan spell at Hannover provided the platform for Aseko to take the next step, with the midfielder emerging as one of Bundesliga 2's standout young players in 2025/26. He registered three goals and five assists in 32 league appearances, while completing 78.5 per cent of his attempted passes.
Hannover moved to make the deal permanent by activating their purchase option in July 2026, but Bayern swiftly exercised their buy-back clause before selling Aseko on to Frankfurt. The Germany U21 international has signed a five-year contract with the Eagles, where he is viewed as a long-term cornerstone of the midfield.
Plays a bit like: Aleksandar Pavlović
A modern No. 6/No. 8 hybrid, Aseko excels at winning the ball, retaining possession under pressure, and progressing play through intelligent passing rather than flashy dribbling.
His profile closely resembles that of former Bayern teammate Aleksandar Pavlović, with both midfielders standing out for their positional intelligence, composure in possession, and ability to dictate the tempo of a match.
