Wolfsburg sign Muhammed Damar from Hoffenheim
Wolfsburg have completed a deal to bring Muhammed Damar to the Volkswagen Arena from Hoffenheim.
Damar joined Hoffenheim from the Eintracht Frankfurt youths in summer 2022, but played the best football of his career to date during a loan spell in Bundesliga 2 with Elversberg in 2024/25.
The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal with Wolfsburg as the club plot an immediate return to the Bundesliga following their relegation via last season's play-off.
"Muhammed was on the radar of a number of clubs because of his qualities. That makes us all the more pleased that he has chosen VfL Wolfsburg," said Wolfsburg sporting director Pirmin Schwegler. "He possesses outstanding game IQ, moves extremely well between the lines and finds creative solutions even under pressure. With these qualities, he adds another dimension to our midfield and gives our attacking play an extra spark."
Damar, who registered nine goals and six assists in 35 Bundesliga 2 appearances for Elversberg and Hannover, is relishing the opportunity to play a key role in Wolfsburg's promotion push under new head coach Tobias Strobl. The former Germany youth international also has the experience of playing 21 times in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim.
"The conversations with the club’s decision-makers and the head coach gave me a really good feeling. I had other interesting options, but the plan that was presented to me here, the professional environment and the way the coaching staff work convinced me that VfL is the right club for me," said Damar. "I'm looking forward to playing my part in the team's development. I can't wait to get started and achieve something together with the team."
Damar is the latest in a raft of summer signings at Wolfsburg, who begin the 2026/27 Bundesliga 2 season at home to Kaiserslautern on 8 August.
