Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl and CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen sign contract extensions
Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl and club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen have put pen to paper on new contracts, tying them both to the club until 30 June 2029.
Eberl, 52, joined the record Bundesliga champions in 2024 following previous spells with Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig.
A former Bayern youth team player, Eberl was instrumental in bringing head coach Vincent Kompany to the club and has also overseen several high-profile transfers, including the arrivals of Colombian winger Luis Díaz and 2025/26 Bundesliga Player of the Season Michael Olise.
"Bayern has been close to my heart ever since my time in the youth ranks," said Eberl.
"Like my fellow board members, I therefore want to continue on the path we have embarked on and, in the interests of the entire Bayern family, continue to do everything I can to achieve sporting success. The trust shown in me by the supervisory board is a valuable vote of confidence, and one that I am very pleased about.”
Bayern were 11 points behind eventual 2023/24 Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen when Eberl's appointment was confirmed in February 2024, but the Bavarians have since won back-to-back league titles as well as last season's DFB Cup.
After returning to Munich two years ago, the former Bochum, Greuther Fürth and Gladbach player said it was "special" to be back where it "all began" for him as a youth team player, adding that he will approach his role on the Bayern board with "respect and humility."
