Bayern arrived at Berlin's Olympiastadion seeking to complete the domestic double, having already secured the Bundesliga title earlier in the season. Holders Stuttgart, aiming to defend the crown they won in 2025, stood in their way.
Kompany made four changes to his starting eleven, with Jonas Urbig deputising for the injured Manuel Neuer in goal, while Michael Olise, Josip Stanišić and Aleksandar Pavlović also came into the side. Sebastian Hoeneß made just the single alteration, with Luca Jaquez replacing Nikolas Nartey in the side.
Stuttgart keep Bayern at bay
Stuttgart made an eye-catching start, pressing high and matching Bayern in every department. Deniz Undav headed straight at Urbig from a Maximilian Mittelstädt corner inside two minutes, while Chris Führich was a constant menace down the left flank.
Bayern struggled to establish their usual rhythm, and it was not until the 22nd minute that Kane registered the Bundesliga champions' first clear chance, nodding wide from an Olise cross.
Mittelstädt fired Urbig into a smart save from distance in the 17th minute before Stanišić's long-range drive in the 37th minute was well pushed away by Alexander Nübel. A goalless first half represented a significant achievement by Stuttgart, who outshot Bayern in the opening 45 minutes.
Kane breaks the deadlock
The deadlock was broken ten minutes into the second half in a moment of fine individual quality from Olise. Führich had picked up a yellow card in the 54th minute for pulling down Olise on the right flank, and from the resulting free-kick, Joshua Kimmich played short to Olise, who raced to the byline and delivered a perfectly weighted cross with his weaker right foot.
Kane, left completely unmarked at the back post, rose magnificently to nod the ball into the bottom corner and give Bayern the lead they had been threatening since the restart.
Kane doubles Bayern's lead
Stuttgart appeared shell-shocked following the opener and struggled to re-establish a foothold in the match. In the 61st minute, Konrad Laimer blazed over an empty net after Nübel had parried a low drive from Luis Díaz.
With Jamal Musiala withdrawn for Lennart Karl on 77 minutes, Bayern's patience paid off three minutes later. Kane struck the crossbar with a thunderous effort from distance before Díaz rolled the ball low from the left into Kane's path.
The striker swivelled brilliantly away from Chema Andrés and fired into the bottom corner to make it 2-0, leaving Nübel with no chance.
Kane seals the double from the spot
Jeff Chabot was cautioned for a foul on Kane in the 82nd minute as Stuttgart's frustrations mounted. Any lingering hopes of a comeback were extinguished in added time when Angelo Stiller handled an Olise cross inside the penalty area.
Referee Sven Jablonski pointed to the spot without hesitation, and Kane stepped up coolly to beat Nübel and complete a stunning hat-trick. The result confirmed Bayern's 13th domestic double and their 21st DFB Cup triumph. It was also the final appearance in a Bayern shirt for Leon Goretzka, who was introduced from the bench in the closing minutes.
