Mainz will face either Norway's Rosenborg or Swedish club Hammarby in the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League play-off round.
Mainz gained direct entry to the Conference League play-offs after finishing sixth in last season's Bundesliga.
The 05ers, who were seeded for the play-off round draw in Nyon, Switzerland on 4 August, will play the first leg away from home on 21 August. The return fixture at the Mewa Arena is scheduled for 28 August.
The outcome of the third qualifying round tie between Rosenborg and Hammarby will be confirmed on 14 August.
Watch: Mainz secure top-six finish!

Mainz last competed in UEFA competition in 2016/17, when they reached the Europa League group stage after a club best fifth-placed Bundesliga finish.
The Rhineland-Palatinate club lost third qualifying round ties in 2014/15 and 2011/12, but did play in the group stage of the now defunct UEFA Cup in 2005/06.
Bo Henriksen's team begin the new season away to Bundesliga 2's Dynamo Dresden in the DFB Cup first round.
Sandwiched between their Conference League play-off tie, there is also the little matter of their Bundesliga opener at home to newly promoted Cologne on 24 August.
