'No abnormalities whatsoever': Borussia Dortmund provide positive update on Konstantinos Karetsas
Having been forced out of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League clash with Villarreal due to circulatory problems and subsequently missing Borussia Dortmund's 3-0 win over Paderborn on Matchday 3, Konstantinos Karetsas has now returned to training.
The 18-year-old Greece international, who joined BVB from Genk in the summer, was making his fifth appearance for the club in the meeting with Villarreal, but was carried off on a stretcher in the 27th minute, before being transported to hospital.
Dortmund provided a positive update on Karetsas' well-being at the weekend. "We really put him through his paces for three days," said BVB's managing director for sport, Lars Ricken. "No abnormalities whatsoever," was the result of those rigorous tests.
Karetsas was in the stands for the Black-Yellows' win over Paderborn, where he had a perfect view of Felix Nmecha's wonder-goal that sealed all three points.
With a third consecutive win in the bag, Dortmund, and possibly Karetsas too, can look ahead to their upcoming meeting with VfB Stuttgart.
"We’ll see if he’s fit to play against Stuttgart," said Ricken, while Niko Kovač was equally hopeful of seeing the youngster involved on Matchday 4.
With the new signing returning to individual training on Monday and taking part in team training again on Wednesday, the chances of his return in the Saturday evening clash seem to be good.
