Ilyas Ansah leaves Union Berlin for Hull City
Ilyas Ansah has completed a move from Union Berlin to Hull City, the club have confirmed.
Ansah, who joined Union last summer, has signed a five-year deal with his new club and will join up with the Tigers with immediate effect.
Upon the announcement, Union managing director Horst Heldt said, "With Ilyas leaving us, we are losing a young, talented player who made good progress in the Bundesliga last season and demonstrated his qualities at a high level. We thank Ilyas for his commitment and the performances he showed in the Union Berlin jersey and wish him all the best for the future, both professionally and personally."
Meanwhile, Ansah added, "I thank Union, the management, and especially the fans for an incredible year in which probably more happened than at other clubs in five years."
Ansah made the switch to the Stadion an der Alten Förseterei from Paderborn prior to the 2025/26 campaign. The six-time Germany U21 international racked up 37 appearances in all competitions for the Iron Ones, including 33 in the Bundesliga, scoring five goals - four of which came in the opening four league games of the season.
The forward is the third big name to leave Union this summer after central defenders Danilho Doekhi and Diego Leite departed at the end of their contracts. The Berlin-based outfit kicked off the 2026/27 campaign with a 4-2 DFB Cup first round win over Eintracht Braunschweig, before drawing 3-3 with Eintracht Frankfurt on the opening day of the Bundesliga season.
