Gio Reyna hopeful of first BVB minutes as USMNT star returns to Dortmund fold
Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Gio Reyna is closer to getting his first minutes of the season after the USMNT international was included in BVB's squad for Tuesday's Champions League opener away to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old sustained a foot injury while on international duty with the United States last June and was forced to miss pre-season training with the Black-and-Yellows. However, Dortmund announced last week that Reyna was back training during the recent international break, with the team's No.7 even taking to the field for 60 minutes in an U23's friendly game.
Despite not featuring in Dortmund's Champions League, Group F loss at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, Reyna's focus will now switch to the Bundesliga and Saturday's Matchday 5 encounter against Wolfsburg.
The U.S. Soccer's Young Male Player of the Year for 2020, Reyna was limited to 22 Bundesliga appearances for BVB last season - scoring seven times - having spent various periods on the treatment table.
